#105 - a little drunk (re-remake)

Feb '24 Update: Project now features everything I noted were missing in my commentary below.

Project sent to Big Supporters already and is currently exclusive to them; please check your messages.

Knowing that my first remake of the original project was a major disaster (in my own humble opinion) really put a lot of added pressure on me to actually deliver this time around. Unfortunately that so happened to coincide with all the personal issues that are still ongoing in my life right now, but this re-remake itself is a successful one, with very few "issues" to note.

Identifying what made the original so resonant to me was critical, and I'd say it's 90% the moo and his expression. He looked angry, somewhat annoyed, perhaps borderline reluctant. I liked that; it gave him a bit of a rough, masculine edge. The first remake botched his expression completely by making him look too...mild, demure, subby even, which was just such a betrayal of the original. IDK wtf I was thinking. This new remake maintains the original expression on his face, while also letting him crack a bit of a cocky smile (no pun intended) once the Orc's meat is in his mouth. It just does a much better job of maintaining the spirit of the OG.

His nose ring was unfortunately removed because of clipping, but I can probably add them back in for updated renders with a little bit of repositioning.

I don't have much to say about the Orc. He looks great, he has a slight flush, he's hot. He's missing nipple rings but that was an artistic change on my end (it's also a long story re: that OC but I'll keep that in another post).

Now the goat is where some more concessions were made over the original. There's just no way for him to be standing like where he was in the original unless if he were floating or standing on something (why though?). I took a lot of creative liberties when I was still starting out, but nowadays I try to keep things accurate or "realistic" when I can. So inexplicable floating is not allowed, and he was cut from almost all of the shots where he would've belonged with the moo x Orc. To me that wasn't a big issue anyways because these new shots were very much framed with only the moo and Orc in mind; to try and put the goat in them would basically be shoehorning him in, and that's just #unaesthetic.

But I also liked the presence of the goat in the original, so I wanted to include him in the project somehow. Like a little quickie within this project, and that's how he ended up being paired...with a rat. It just seemed like a natural fit, plus I like indulging the few rat fans that I have whenever I can.

Being on a bit of a stressful time crunch meant cutting a few things that I really want to get back to some day down the line. For starters, I had a few "classic" shots prepared that more closely resembled that of the original (and can probably include the goat/rat on the sides). I cut those shots in favor of the new ones since I found the original framing a bit primitive and nowhere near as dynamic as the new ones, so they weren't a priority for me. But for the sake of really having something to directly compare against the original, I will probably create those "classic" shots anyways at some point.

I'd also like to try adding back the moo's nose ring, along with seeing if I can fit the goat organically into more shots, as I mentioned earlier.

Lastly, since Goblins are the same size as rats, seeing if a Goblin can take the place of that rat is certainly something to consider. Especially for those who hate rats. πŸ€
