There's not a lot about this piece on its own really.
This week I had a couple of days off and found myself walking on the streets close to my college. I was going to buy some stuff at a store that was in the zone.
I visited my school. It looked the same but was empty. The teacher's union was deliberating if they'd go on strike or not this week, so classes were off.
And then I walked next to the now abandoned plaza. There used to be a lot of business there, but after the 2017 earthquake in Mexico the building got a bit damaged and the owners decided to move the plaza to another place a block away.
And walking there I found this door. I don't know why but I really liked it. One of those, "I need this in my art" moments any artist has surely had. I think... It really has a cool vibe going on. Very urban or something. All places have it I think. Since it was abandoned the whole plaza is covered in graffiti but this door I especially liked. It used to be a Chilli's But how would you notice? I immediately pictured my characters posing next to it trying to look cool like for an album cover or something.
And here it is.
I took like 20 photos of it. There's a second version I have in mind but I don't know if I will make it using this same background or a different one. Anyway, if I end up making it I'll be posting it later.
