Oldish Stuff with my ocs Kite and Rita from before I decided they would live in the 60s lol.
...
This piece features a couple of characters I made up in college. They're part of a silly musical I wrote in my head during my trip to and from college at the bus while I was listening The Beatles. The idea ended up being something like "The Aristocats" and "Across the universe", It was pretty silly but it compelled me. Not only the musical would have featured music from the Beatles, the names of the characters are references to their songs, like "Lovely Rita", "Mr Kite" and "Michelle".
Here we see Kite feeling down after he found out that Michelle, the girl he was in love with, is now with another guy and his best friend Rita is playing the violin pretending it is to tease him but even though he wont admit it, it is actually making him feel better.
When I came up with these characters they were regular feral animals. Rita was still a violinist though. This is the first time I drew them as anthros and I hadn't decided yet that they would live in the 60s (Being a Beatles reference and such) as they have appeared in others pieces since then.
So it's kind of a silly piece, what isn't silly is the context it was made in.
TW for I mention a Tragic accident.
This piece I started working on last year after shortly after the tragic accident of the fall of a bridge of the line 12 of the subway of Mexico city. Since it happenss that I live very close from where it happens. My family and I dicovered what happened by watching the train hanging from the train from our roof.
This piece on itself doesn't have a lot to do with the event, It was made in part to help me distract from what happened but it also has another connection. The stairs on wich the characters are standing are the same ones that are next to the movie theater in front of where the accident happened. And that I climbed to try to get a better view of what had happened when I arrived shortly after.
In the following days I for some reason had in the back of my mind the tought of including those stairs in something, so I finally went and took photos of it to include them in this art piece wich before that it was actually going to involve an statue instead of the stairs.
In retrospective I like to think I chose to make such a mundane and quiet piece with those stairs to contrast with the events of that night. Having a couple of characters chilling and looking even kind of bored in them instead of me looking at a literal disaster zone. But I don't really remember what I was thinking back then.
