A surprise Vote!

I´m gonna try something new today, but given the scope of the current project, I think its justified.

As most of you will (hopefully) still remember we are currently busy with the Solitude Events. Trying to get a well rounded system extending the crime and punishment system to the remaining denizens of skyrim and making it work without the need to have the player as participant.

Going by the relatively muted response to the last update, I thought It might be a good Idea to maybe put the project on the Backburner for a bit and do something else for a while.
This might also be good for my motivation as I´m beginning to get a bit tired of solitude as well.

So I´m putting the choice up to you. Continue with the Solitude Events as planned and outlined in previous posts, Or pause it and do another device, cosmetic additions to Deadly furnitures, or something new for Orkish bounty Hunters.

To Clarify, If you choose to pause the Solitude Events, I will Finish some Basic dialogue options for the Overseer to make it possible to save followers, and will also Implement a basic PA outcome which puts the jailed player and follower into the plaza shackles. The Guillotine will however remain non-functional for now.

It will also mean there will be another vote immediately afterwards to decide on the "filler" for that little intermezzo. Just to tease a bit, there are workable Ideas on the table for new multi-Actor furnitures, as well as Resources from soggy toast to make some new aftermath Decorations (yes, I talked to him and even got LE-compatible versions).

While I´m admittedly slightly in favor of the Intermezzo, I don't want to give the Impression that continuing with the Solitude content will inadvertently kill my motivation, Both Options are perfectly fine with me. So choose whatever is more appealing to you :)

I'd suggest the muted response to Solitude events might be because it's seen as a continuation of Bad Ends/PA - i.e, the underlying gameplay loop for the player hasn't changed (get arrested -> go to jail -> air dance), it's being extended to a new city. Now, that's not strictly speaking accurate - you have added a lot of new mechanics to it like the daily events, follower capture, etc., which I think are great. But I 'd suggest that for someone who only drops by from time to time, that might be why they don't react as vividly to Solitude content. It's just more of a good thing, compared to something new entirely. I also think you should always do what you find fun - modding is often a thankless task, and if the fun level decreases on one project, keeping at it because of public demand is a sure route to burnout. On my end, I don't support you because you make only the things I like - hell, the idea I was most hyped about (necromancers bringing you back to life post-execution), was outvoted a long time ago. :p I support you because you try to bring new mechanics to Skyrim that folks have been asking for as a niche request, for literally half a decade or more. So, I absolutely encourage you to pursue what you find fun, whatever the outcome of these polls. ;)

I think the Orkish bounty Hunters could have more funny content. It has some potential.

I'm sorry to hear that responses to your last update were muted, I can imagine that is disheartening. On my account I have not been around much the last few weeks (and haven't had the time to test out the new scene), mostly because I have been extremely busy and not because I disliked the work you've been doing. In terms of muted response I can imagine two bits: 1 the Solitude events have so far mostly been a testing ground for the scenes and mechanics and not yet integrated and really playable content. 2 from the few screenies I saw the second scene seemed to be build on and very similar to the first; not quite fresh and exciting that way even as I acknowledge that it is handy to do so for the sake of testing/getting things working. The Solitude events always seemed to me a little of a project that got slightly out of hand in terms of ideas/scope, though I do really like what has come out of it in terms of npc/follower interactions together with the courier integration; I think these are cool and additive but I fully understand and support it if you feel it is time to wrap it up for now assuming that you properly tie it into the PA framework so it becomes playable content.

For some reason the Solitude Events execution just didn't vibe with me the way the Bad Ends events do. There's something missing from it. I'd like to see Orc Bounty Hunters get some updates like more punishment/execution events for failed escapes and/or an orc stronghold where you could end up and endure more punishment, torture or bad ends.

Hmm... thats an interesting perspective I hadn't considered. Thanks for pointing it out.

I think the muted response is more to do with the lack of a prison connected scene than any lack of interest. I like the current updates, but I definitely am a bit silent because the lack of connection yet to the overall Bad Ends system. Once players can organically get in those spots by the gallows the response would be much stronger.
