I enjoy this episode a lot cause of the Slayer lore and also, this episode supports what Dracula was telling Buffy when they met. He told her that her power was rooted in darkness, and that revelation always stuck with Buffy. All the way up to this episode where, during the part where the shadowcasters tell the story of the first Slayer, Dawn is reading the text and mentions the Slayer's power and darkness and Buffy immediately jumps up and asks: "Darkness? What about darkness?". Since her encounter with Dracula, she's been worrying throughout season 5 about how being the Slayer made her feel like she was losing her humanity (and thus her connections to her loved ones), then in season 6 she was resurrected and struggled to connect or feel and her complex feelings and interactions with Spike made her feel like she was not entirely human and there was darkness in her, and now this episode she learns that there's a reason for feeling this way, because her Slayer power really did come from demon's essence.

Nick, I love your reactions. I've been watching for a few years now. You are insightful, but fun and laid back. Always authentic. Just very enjoyable!

I’m sure you probably recorded this long ago, but dude…you need to set that water bottle down. It’s constantly rattling ice right in front of the mic with every slight movement of your hand. The noise is very distracting and loud.

It's absolutely wild how well this old show holds up. Obvi the FX are kinda dated and weird looking, but the acting and the writing is what keeps this show timeless. I mean it's 2025 and new ppl are still discoverying and getting into this show.

[Sorry, posted the comment early] but I definitely don't condone Buffy speaking ill of the dead teenage girl, and she for sure makes my shit list for what she said to Spike this episode. Give him a hard time, sure, but don't bring the soul into it in such a negative light, especially not so cruelly and publicly like that. And her roasting him for getting tortured and for showing emotion when dealing with his recent struggles - men are sadly mocked for showing emotion, and Buffy would normally be the type of person who wouldn't mock him for it.

The moment when Buffy told Buffy that she misses the old Spike I remembered when the Black Widow told Bruce Banner that she needed "the other guy" hahaha
Love your reaction, as always, and all your insightful comments at the end. Totally agree with you about the rol that Buffy had to play here, being hard to the girls, because she didn't realize how bad it's the situation with the First. And that final scene with all the neanderthal vampires uffffff...
Can't wait for the next one! This season is so exciting!! I just don't want to end.
Thoughts about the next show? Maybe a poll?
Have a nice day, Nick! Greetings for Qynh ;)
