I don’t think Sheldon was eager to share the story, at least not the first time. I think he was more impressed that Penny (kind of) exposed a loophole that Sheldon deemed acceptable, and got excited at the prospect of using an obscure exception. The second time, he was kind of eager to share it, but based on his comment to Leonard, it again seemed to be more about the loophole being exploited than sharing the info in-and-of itself.
My own theory is that - other than Sheldon’s version, of course - all the stories are true. The envelope contained all the things that were mentioned, and they decided to each reveal only a part of it, so that they were all telling him what was in it, without revealing that it was all true. Except Sheldon’s.

I know the episode to which you're referring; I think you might have meant Amy's version of the letter where his Dad's secretly at his graduation?
I'm of two minds - I think each of them might have been sharing a piece of the envelope's contents; excluding Sheldon, of course.
I know when Howard said that he'd like all of the versions to be true Leonard remarked, "well, one of them is", but Leonard couldn't very well say, "Great, because all of the stories Are true!" He knew Howard didn't want to know for sure what his father had written.
But if only one version is accurate then I think it's probably Amy's or Bernadette's; and I can see where Bernadette being his wife would want to be the one who shares his father's actual words.

While never conclusively stated, an event that will occur in a later episode would suggest that Bernadette’s story about being at Howard’s graduation is the true one.
