As a parent I absolutely agree with you, Nick.. I think most every adult child comes to a better understanding of their parents(assuming their parents weren't abusive/neglectful) once they themselves become parents. Esp. in areas like the kind of decisions their parents made when they were raising them.. why they didn't let them do certain things, why they were so "strict".. π
I remember with my firstborn, the moment I really came to see my mom as a woman and mother, not just "mom".. the patience it takes to raise children & and the depth of love, worry and work that goes into being a good parent! And even the best parents in the world don't always "get it right"; as parents I think we All can look back on situations we wish we had handled a little differently in the moment
Once You become a parent you're more understanding of your own, and give them a little grace for the times they may not have handled things as well as they might have!ππ₯°

Prayer is something that is a very personal, private matter, but I tend to think along the same lines as what you shared.. speaking for myself I usually ask Him to please "bless my efforts" at whatever I'm working on, need help with. And to please grant me the strength, patience, wisdom.. whatever is needed as I'm trying to work on a particular problem, area of my life.

In all legitimate seriousness, I know it's played as a joke in the show, but a prayer to God asking for "help" for her "brother to stop cooking meth" is - at least, in my eyes - the way a true prayer should be said. She didn't ask Him to make him stop; she didn't in any way blame God for *not* making him stop. She asked Him to "help" her brother, and I honestly think that's what people don't often realize about the power of prayer. Yes, God does a lot of it... but some amount has to come from the human side as well. No one can help someone who doesn't want to be helped.

I love how you so clearly want to smile at Mary Cooper's racism but have to wait for Leonard's punchline for permission.

The series of episodes regarding Howard's space adventure might be the highlight of the entire show for me. Peak writing, peak acting. Perfection all around.

Hope you'll be feeling better soon!
I collected weaponry for awhile in my 20s, though I started with the curved sword from Elfquest. I still have that, as well as my heavy spiked flail (no fictional reference) and a genuine thick wood police baton before they switched to the folding style. But I lost along the way my two Spanish swords and my Indiana Jones machete. I think my double-bladed battle axe is in storage. I used to have a large dagger collection as well, but I've gotten rid of those over the years. While I still admire the weaponry and would love to have an actual collection, I don't have the room to display it and want to spend my limited money on more important things that I can actually use, LOL.
