Leonard fills the emotional void that her dad unintentionally created when she was growing up just by being so genuinely attracted to her. It’s ironic but the thing that Penny and Leonard have the most in common is that they both felt unloved by a parent. For a comedy show big bang theory has a lot of interesting character psychology.

There's a blooper where it does exactly that and Jim Parsons is unable to hold his smile when it lands on him. So I think it was just an accident that kept happening that they kept in because it was so funny.

2025-01-01 06:01:00 +0000 UTCThe only info I recall we have about Penny's dad prior to this was when she was talking to Evelyn, Leonard's mother, and sobbed about how once she grew breasts, she was no longer her dad's "little slugger" and they drifted apart. It was implied he was uncomfortable with her becoming a woman and no longer being a child.
