The Twilight Saga: Eclipse FULL Reaction

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse FULL Reaction

Comments

I am going through the book again, and book Jacob is somewhat different than movie Jacob. And … the kiss when Jacob kisses Bella against her will. That really made me dislike the pairing. How he would not stop when she said no, how she noticed her fighting him seemed to egg him on, and ho she went limb as a last resort to try and discurage his attention. Yeah… I really disliked that scene in the book.

"For one brief, never-ending second, an entirely different path expanded behind the lids of my tear-wet eyes. As if I were looking through the filter of Jacob’s thoughts, I could see exactly what I was going to give up, exactly what this new self-knowledge would not save me from losing. I could see Charlie and Renée mixed into a strange collage with Billy and Sam and La Push. I could see years passing, and meaning something as they passed, changing me. I could see the enormous red-brown wolf that I loved, always standing as protector if I needed him. For the tiniest fragment of that second, I saw the bobbing heads of two small, black-haired children, running away from me into the familiar forest. When they disappeared, they took the rest of the vision with them. And then, quite distinctly, I felt the splintering along the fissure line in my heart as the smaller part wrenched itself away from the whole."

Great reaction! And this is where I stop reading the books / watching the movies and start reading fanfiction lol

Mary Kate

I never got past the first movie lol

Jessica George

Alice and Jasper are the best couple in the series, I love them so much.

BeckyB00b

Also, and I know this is controversial, but I loathe The Maze Runner. The first book was terrible and the author is problematic and the movie was better than the book, but not worth watching IMO

Mary Kate

Seconding, would LOVE THIS

Mary Kate

Waiting for Breaking dawn haha, I love your reactions!

Lena Down

I would love to see you guys react to the scream franchise and all 6 of those movies!

Brandy

The books are much better but they did a great job with Eclipse. It only gets better with the last two, cant wait for your reactions!

Priscila

I love your guys commentary during the movies haha. I soooo hope you do the Vampire Diaries series!

Jessica George

Also the awkward parenting scene in the kitchen is amazing. The actors crushed it. They have such great father-daughter chemistry. It's perfection. "Virgin... starting to like Edward a little more now..."

Billy Burke as Charlie is literally *The Best* part of the entire franchise--I will die on this hill. And I'm probably suppose to fall in love Edward or Jacob but... COME ON Charlie is legit and I'm not sorry about it. The camping scene with Edward, Bella & Jacob is iconic. I remember exactly where I was when I was reading this scene in the book, I was on the train going home from work, and my whole body was shaking trying to hold in my laughter. It was hilarious.

To be fair the replacement of Rachelle Lefevre was not as straightforward as that. Considering the overlap could have easily been accomodated. It was 10 days on a 3 month schedule. Personally I liked her way better as Victoria but that is a matter of taste I suppose.

Hans Engelen

So that was in fact Bryce Dallas Howard. 😁

Awesome Sauce

This IS Bryce Dallas Howard! She is most known for her role in the Jurassic World movies and The Help (besides this one). She's also daughter of director/producer Ron Howard. Rachelle Lefevre did not reprise her role as Victoria due to scheduling conflicts. Bryce was offered the role in the first movie but rejected it because she thought the part was too small. But what a treat!! You are spoiling us with these reactions! I haven't watched this yet so I may add more later but here are some of of my thoughts and of course some fun facts 😆 I was always Team Jacob but he is definitely way out of line (and the lines are cringey as hell), but apparently the reason why he changed so dramatically is because Stephenie Meyer didn't like that people were rooting for him and Bella instead of Edward and Bella, so she had to try to make him unlikable in the future books. I love the tent scene but I wish she would have had Jacob also say "I might like you" at the end. I still think Jacob is far less problematic and while constantly pursuing someone like Jacob is doing is not cute or romantic, he IS right. Bella DOES have feelings for him that she doesn't want to admit, but I don't think he and Bella would ever work as a couple because Bella is not IN love with him. Yeah, she kisses him because he threatens to kill himself (which is cruel and manipulative on his part) but she's also clearly enjoying that kiss. Bella is kind of having her cake and eating it too. Her words say she wants Edward but her actions are all over the place. She IS leading Jacob on in a way and I think it's because she just doesn't know what the hell she wants. And Edward was also in the wrong for talking about the engagement when he knew Jacob could hear. Edward is definitely more mature but you have to remember that spiritually and emotionally he is over a 100 years old, while Jacob is only 16. He also comes from a different time where sex before marriage wasn't a thing (Stephenie Meyer is a devout Mormon so it is very much in keeping with her faith). But he seems more concerned about HER virtue rather than his own. I feel like they are both in the wrong. Edward is pressuring her about the marriage thing and Bella is pressuring him about the sex thing. However, I do like that Edward points out that Jacob kissed Bella AGAINST HER WILL. He may be old school but at least he respects consent FOR THE MOST PART (you know, when he's not stalking Bella and coming into her bedroom to watch her sleep). I wish they had concentrated more on each of the Cullen's backstories, especially since they only go into Rosalie and Jasper's (which are both rather dark). They definitely could've made a book/movie just about that. The books go into some of the others' backstories though. Carlisle was born in 1640 (making him the oldest of the Cullens) in London. His mother died giving birth to him and his father was an Anglican pastor and monster hunter who hunted witches, werewolves and vampires to root out "evil". When his father became too old, Carlisle took over, though he didn't agree with it and was less inclined to kill due to a strong sense of empathy and compassion. One night he discovered a group of vampires living in the sewers of London and attacked them but he was bitten and left for dead. Once he had transformed into a vampire he tried to kill himself in many different ways but couldn't. He only drank animal blood from the very start but it wasn’t always easy for him, as he was once a part of the Volturi — a high-power coven in Italy. He stayed with them for two decades as they tried to turn him towards human blood. Carlisle resisted, settled in the US and eventually became a doctor before forming the Cullens. Esme was born in 1895 on a farm in Columbus, Ohio. When she was 16, she was treated for a broken leg by none other than Carlisle, with whom she bonded instantly. Years later, she was forced by her family to marry an abusive man, eventually running away from him when she discovered she was pregnant. In 1921, she gave birth to the child which died just two days later. Devastated, Esme attempted to kill herself by jumping off a cliff and was found by men who took her to the morgue, but Carlisle, who was working there, noticed her heart was still beating. He recognised her as the girl he had treated years before and decided to save her life by turning her into a vampire. Esme accepted her new life and immediately fell for Carlisle, marrying him shortly thereafter. Emmett’s story is rather short in comparison to the rest. He was born in 1915 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee to a large family. He worked on the nearby railroad and in 1935, he was attacked by a bear in the mountains. Rosalie found him and carried him over a hundred miles to Carlisle who turned him, because she didn't trust herself to do it without killing him. Emmett accepted his new life, having fallen in love with Rosalie pretty much immediately. Alice was born in 1901 in Biloxi, Mississippi. From an early age, she had premonitions that led many in town to believe she was a witch. She even had a vision of her mother being murdered, which became true. Her father soon remarried and Alice had a vision of her father paying off her mother’s murderer, revealing that her father was the one behind her death. Once he realised she knew he admitted her to an asylum, where she endured electroshock therapy which gave her amnesia. She befriended a vampire who worked there. Later, she had a vision that a tracker named James (the main villain from the first movie) was looking for her because he was attracted to her scent, so Alice's friend turned her into a vampire to protect her and then sacrificed himself to James to give her time to escape. Her first vision after her transformation was of Jasper becoming her mate and them joining the Cullens. She began practicing a “vegetarian” lifestyle and met Jasper in 1948. Alice explained her visions to him and they joined the Cullens in 1950. Fun facts: The first words you hear from Bella are from the poem "Fire and Ice" by Robert Frost, where he muses on how the world will end. It is generally thought that Frost was equating the elemental force of fire with the emotion of desire and ice with hate. Both, of course, are important plot elements in Twilight. Originally, the scene where Jacob carries Bella to mask her scent, Taylor Lautner was to push Kristen Stewart on a cart, but it did not look real enough so Taylor agreed to carry Kristen himself. His arms were extremely sore as they filmed the scene all day. In the stories that Billy Black tells at the bonfire, the third wife was originally going to be played by Kristen Stewart. She did film the scene but director David Slade and author Stephenie Meyer thought it had an unintentional comical effect. When Bella punches Jacob in the face after he kisses her, you see Taylor Lautner laughing for a split second. In each take they did, Taylor had a hard time keeping a straight face. Kristen received her high school diploma by correspondence one week before filming Bella's graduation scene. She took a mock graduation photo with an extra so she'd have a photo of herself graduating high school. Kristen wore a wig for this movie after cutting her hair short for the movie The Runaways. Jackson Rathbone (Jasper) is distantly related to Stonewall Jackson, a Confederate General fighting for the Confederacy in the Civil War. On the DVD commentary, Robert Pattinson makes fun of Edward's tendency to appear out of nowhere by comparing him to Batman. He, of course, would later go on to play Batman. Vanessa Hudgens were considered to play Leah Clearwater. Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter) and Channing Tatum were considered to play Riley. Lastly, here is a funny BTS of them filming the scene where Bella strokes Jacob in his wolf form: https://youtu.be/vRqU-93mHns?si=q9-s6zX-fQdOKOHR. How they managed to do a decent take without bursting out laughing beats me 😂
