I grew up near Tombstone, and now I've semi retired back to the area. Most of Tombstone in this was a set at Mescal, a lot of westerns are shot there,. A lot of the outdoor horse riding scenes and the final chase and shootout of the cowboys was filmed close to where I live now, just up the road from Sierra Vista/Tombstone On a beautiful Ranch. And the rest of the outdoor shots like the creek gunfight etc was filmed outside Tucson in Sabino canyon/Mt. Lemmon. In the opening when they come into Tombstone the headstone is kinda famous there It says, :Here Lies Lester Moore, Four slugs from a .44, no Les, No more". Tombstone is more of a tourist town and the old West part is mainly Allen St. it's actually barricaded off to vehicles. The road is still dirt, all the shops, bars and hotels are open for tourists. Only "vehicles" allowed in that area are stage coaches which is part of the tourist thing you can pay to ride to go down the road, and the "actors" that ride horses around there. It's a fun place to visit from time to time. Wyatts house is still there and it's about 3 blocks from the Oriental where he worked dealing cards. Just to give an idea of how small of an area this part of Tombstone was. It's under half a mile long just lined with saloons, shops and the Birdcage. etc. Laudanum is an opiate, pretty strong at that. One thing I will never understand. Growing up in Southeast Arizona in the desert. How on earth did they survive dressed the way they did and no AC? Way different Human Beings than we are today I believe. And they didn't have clean drinking water at their disposal. I always wondered on earth did they not die of dehydration or heat stroke? Tombstone can get up around 100 degrees in the summer, although it's real nice and even gets snow in the winter though. Oh yeah "revenge" is action built on anger, "reconning" is more about the self reflection and finding inner peace through the actions taken. One thing about this movie is it's based on the Earps/Tombstone and OK coral shootings. But there's a lot that didn't happen. Like Ringo wasn't killed by Doc, he killed himself out by Turkey Creek in the Chiricahua mountains. But, this version makes for a better movie.. When Doc dies and see's his feet, whats funny is he didn't die with his boots on like he always thought would happen. He died peacefully in bed. Oh also Mattie and Wyatt were never married, just "Common law" lived together.
