What a great reaction! Can I just say, it's been so great watching your predictions, knowing how the story does resolve? It's so fascinating to get this perspective so long after I first watched the show, especially for a season this explosive. Absolutely going unhinged imagining the future reactions.

Amber

Yay I can't wait for the conclusions of season 5!!!

jobs like a soldier or a police officer do not have to harden you at all, necessarily - of course you should take good care of your emotional and mental health AND your humanity, compassion, etc., but people who abuse their own kids and are aggressive and lack empathy come from all kinds of professions, they are teachers, gardeners, office workers, accountants, secretaries, flight attendants, cooks and chefs ......

The "will they, won't they?" part of Buffy and Spike's storyline has always (in my opinion) been one of best stories ever told. I obviously won't spoil anything, but I will say that this just the beginning of that story arc. Their storyline is so intricate and complex, but it really all ties together very neatly and was extremely satisfying (at least, for me). Also, it's crazy that you only have FOUR more episodes left of season five?!?! This is where everything really starts to blast off and get exciting.

I don't think it's an issue with you, specifically. I think it's with Patreon itself. I've had this issue happen often within the last couple of weeks, where the player will either crash and you have to reload the page, or the video will buffer (no pun intended) several times. But it's not just on your page. I've had it happen on several pages.

The natural world is full of variation and exception. There are no absolutes. Why would the supernatural world be any different? Yes, it isn't supposed to be this way, but William was so effulgent in life - more so than most. The demon who inherited his mind simply got more than he could handle. Should we pity a monster tormented with residual humanity? I don't know. But despite our better judgment we do feel for him - perhaps because his inner struggle is so relatable.

Thanks for letting me know. I've been using the same streaming platform but let me check and try to figure out the issue. Hopefully I can fix it soon. Again, thanks for letting me know. and sorry for the inconvenient.

It plays it just stalls and I have to restart it sometimes. It just started having that issue in like the last week or two and I’ve never had any issues with any of the videos in the past.

Adri

Hi Adri. Is the video not playing for you?

Nicholas Crowell

Lol I immediately thought of Chobits(anime series) when you mentioned AI gf becoming real. I can't wait for you to finish the season, and you have your questions answered. I always like to think back on the episode when Angel is working with Spike and Dru, and they summoned the judge whose touch to anyone with humanity would kill, and when he touched Angel nothing happened but he couldn't touch Spike because he reeked of humanity. And I like to think back on how poetic he was a human and still is as a Vampire I think that plays into how his obsession is so confusing for him. Angels obsession for Buffy was different, it was cruel, he wanted to see what his pain did to her and build it up, whereas Spikes is different in how he shows his obsession. I just enjoy analyzing the differences between souless Angel and Spike.

Are you using a different platform or something for your videos now? I have streaming issues and I never used to......

Adri

Warren....enough said. Lmao. I dont know where to ask this but do you think you would react to Charmed?? The older one with Shannen Doherty, Alyssa Milano and Holly Marie Combs not the reboot. Unless youve seen it already. :)

Ah, the Buffybot. I always giggle at how disgusted the characters got about Warren's first bot/sex toy. Outside of the extreme of that bot being able to walk around and hurt people, its function in his bedroom is no different than any other sex toy! It's just a great deal more advanced. I mean, are people as outraged about a vibrator or whatever those artificial lips for guys are called? People who buy those Living Doll things? Eh, that's their business, not mine. 😄 However, the ickiness factor here comes from the fact that THIS sexbot was made to look exactly like Buffy, so that outrage I get. After all, those sorts of fantasies are meant to stay privately in your head, not prancing around in your fantasy-girl's stolen clothing, and it would absolutely feel like a violation to the person it resembles. I do think that Warren programming a robot to be a girl who obeys his every command and desire as a "girlfriend" is high on the creep-o-meter and raises major red flags about the character of his person. Especially the way he treated her instead of simply shutting her down like a smart person would. But a sexbot itself is just an advanced bedroom toy, and I've no doubt one day they will exist. Maybe Bad Dragon will have a line of sexbots one day, LOL!

One of my favorite call back bits in this episode... Xander's first response to seeing two Buffys is that they've been split like he was... but in the episode where he gets split his first response to seeing himself is that the other one is a robot.

Buffy is hardenned, strong and resilient because slaying is a metaphor for adulthood, for becoming a grownup, and she misses the vulnerable, kind, child-like part of herself, like everyone at her age. ...also,to slay demons is "EASY" for Buffy because she trains and works on it. It's what daily job is for the rest of us, or maybe even dealing with our demons. But everybody is a successful "slayer" in a different area. ... Spike's selfless act here is confusing. being able to do that without a soul ...

I'm so excited for this reaction, Intervention is one of my favorites of the entire season! I'm sure most people commenting will discuss the Buffybot (and there is a lot to say about…that!) but I want to focus on Buffy's arc as it is such a pivotal point in her journey. Since the pilot episode, Buffy has always struggled with walking the line between being a growing woman and being The Slayer. Ever since the spell in Primeval that woke the First Slayer, Buffy has feared that she was becoming increasingly inhuman (robotic, even). In 5x1, she said she had been going "hunting" and that she feared Dracula's comment about her "darkness." She was never able say "I love you" to Riley despite the fact that he said it to her several times. She's so worried about her incapability in saying those words that she, heartbreakingly, doesn't even know if her mom knew before she died. In the previous episode, Dawn says she's so closed off that Dawn insanely didn't think that Buffy even cared that Joyce died. In this episode, the Scooby's couldn't even tell her apart from a robot (even Tara didn't say anything even though she knew Buffy's aura was off in the bodyswap episode with Faith). This just confirms Buffy's worst fears that her strength is turning her into stone. This brings us to Spike. Buffy had no problem with Spike having an invite to her house for years, even despite him kidnapping Xander & Willow, trying to kill Buffy multiple times, allying with Adam, showing up in her bedroom while she was naked, etc. but it was the fact that he tried to say "I love you" to her that got her to rescind the invitation. In Buffy's mind, what did it say about her that she couldn't say the words to Riley or her family when a soulless demon like Spike can say it? Yet, at the same time, Buffy has always turned to Spike for help. She went to him directly in Checkpoint with Joyce and Dawn and told him: "You're the only one strong enough to protect them." This is despite Willow, for instance, having the ability to actually hurt Glory (teleport Glory into space, etc.). So, in this episode, she's genuinely shocked that Spike exhibits the first truly selfless act of love in his (un)life; his willingness to die to protect Dawn at all costs because he knew it would kill Buffy. It was confirmation of her thought in Checkpoint - he was strong enough to survive Glory's torture. Buffy is thinking about the First Slayer's words that she is "full of love" as she kisses Spike. It was Buffy's way of being able to show authentic, real human feelings. Whether or not it confirms any underlying romantic feelings on Buffy's part for Spike, it was her way of spontaneously demonstrating her profound gratitude to Spike. It's quite an extraordinary and compelling trajectory from School Hard.
