you are almost right. it happened in the real world. in both situations it was because of what was going on with the actors.

2024-01-13 01:35:38 +0000 UTCI feel like I can say this now that it doesn't spoil either show. Oz's departure made way for Tara. Doyle's death made way for Wesley. Usually when something horrible happens in the Buffyverse, it makes room for something truly wonderful.

They focused just a small beam of it directly on the human, so Angel was unaffected, because the weapon wasn't discharged at full power then. I was upset with the loss of Doyle, too, though it was understandable given the real-life circumstances. Too many good and/or talented people are destroyed by drugs. My head-scratch moment is with the Scourge calling themselves "pure demons," because I swear that in the Mayor episodes on Buffy, it was revealed by Anya that no one alive had seen an actual (i.e., pure) demon before and that *all* demons were hybrids. The Mayor was attempting to ascend into pure demon form, which was colossal size. If this is true, then how can the Scourge actually be pure demon? They aren't half-demon/half-human like Doyle or the family trying to escape, true. But they should still be "hybrids," as Vampires are hybrid because they aren't half-human either, even though the outer shell is human. The lore got a little confusing there for me.

2023-01-07 23:53:12 +0000 UTCGlenn Quinn, the actor that plays Doyle, was said to be an alcoholic and drug addict. In fact, one of the reasons he was killed off was because he had a bad influence on DB (Angel) and as a result, he actually drank a lot during the first season. They didn't like how much Glenn was influencing David, among other things.
