EARLY ACCESS: COCA COLA DRAFT

Which of these videos do you want to see first?? I'm excluding options that are already in development (i.e. the tornado probe project, replicating Coca Cola, building a 50BMG plasma gun, making taurine, etc). Whichever one wins, I'll try over my winter break!

UPDATES: COCA COLA BY CHRISTMAS!

The fall semester at OU is coming to a close here in the next few weeks, and boy do I have my work cut out for me...not so much with college (I only have two classes at the moment, and neither are unbearably difficult), but with YouTube! I've been promoting the whole "stealing the Coca Cola secret formula" thing for months now, and with Coke releasing yet another terrible AI holiday ad, I figure it's about time I buckled down and finished the project while the hype (or hate?) is still up.

"DAILY DOSE OF INTERNET" SIDE-QUEST

I feel like I say this a lot, but the videos are still coming along (the tornado probe video, Coca Cola replication, and plasma rifle, plus any others I might've mentioned along the way). However, I saw this clip on 'Daily Dose Of Internet' for the second time now, and I'm doing a quick side-quest video to explain it.

According to Daily Dose, the salsa is "somehow producing electricity", and some people actually seem to believe that, with one of the top comments attempting to explain it...

THE ARNETT TORNADO

I'm working on my next video right now, but it might be a while before it airs (or before I have it ready for early access). As many of you know, I've been trying to steal the Coca Cola secret formula with mass spectrometry for a few months now. And how close are we after all this time? Well...we're actually almost perfect!

BEAUTIFUL TAURINE CRYSTALS!

After reacting the 75g of 2-bromoethylamine hydrobromide with 52g sodium sulfite and boiling down, I was left with cake of discolored taurine and sodium bromide. To purify it, I had to wash the mass several times with concentrated hydrochloric acid, which apparently dissolves taurine quite well without taking up much bromide. For a while now, I've been wanting to make taurine (a common energy drink ingredient...and the one urban legends say come from bull testicles lol), and I'm happy to say the synthesis has been going pretty well! BARRACUDA SOLUTION

I'm hoping to get a video out by Saturday, in an effort to remain on some form of upload schedule. Sadly, this means probably no time for early access, so here's one of my favorite bits from the video, which is about making sulfur trioxide/oleum and a devastating new form of piranha solution!

1 KILOJOULE CAPACITOR TEST!

Fun fact: this is 15X WEAKER than I'm hoping for! I just had some 450-volt 3300uF capacitors leftover from building my DRSSTC two years ago, and figured I might as well experience 1kJ before I do 15kJ, lol. Could also be useful for experimenting with nozzle designs and whatnot, but we'll see! I ordered some of the stuff I'll be needing, but I still need to put down the $1,000 on the capacitors...

Oh boy, it's rush time! I spent the week filming like crazy (including the drone shots seen above, which sadly didn't come out as perfectly framed as I wanted...it's hard to guess where everything will shoot and how high), and finally recording the audio, which I'm editing now. DRONE SHOT OF RED STAR MINE!

I'm hoping to get a lot more shots like this for all of the different effects I made, but for now, this was the best I could manage in just my backyard! It was a pretty cool shot, but I didn't know how high the stars would be shot, so the drone was a bit too low. Tomorrow, I'll load up a bunch of these and take them out to an open field to film! Hard to say if the video will be done by the 4th of July, but I really don't have too much else to film aside from these star mines, a few smoke bomb...

CRACKLE MIX IS CRAZY

Did you know the crackle (aka dragon eggs) in fireworks actually comes from a type of thermite? As it turns out, if you swap the iron oxide with a mix of bismuth trioxide (up to 70%) and copper oxide (and maybe change some of the aluminum out for magnalium), you go from a slow-burning incendiary to an angry explosive, which can be formed into tiny "microstars" that give all of our classic fireworks their crackle!

DIY RAINBOW FOUNTAIN!

Decided to pound every pyrotechnic color I've made (as well as some titanium glitter mix) into one fountain, and the results weren't disappointing!

In case you're curious about the compositions:

• Titanium glitter: 44% potassium nitrate, 33% titanium, 11% charcoal, 6% sulfur, 6% dextrin

• Red, green: 50% ammonium perchlorate, 35% nitrate (barium for green, strontium for red), and 15% red gum

TESTING BLUE FIREWORK STARS!

This is just some footage of me testing my copper oxide blue stars (70% ammonium perchlorate, 15% copper oxide, 15% red gum). I tested quite a few blue compositions tonight, and I think I'm starting to get a feel for how to film these things lol! Shimizu blue #2 was probably my favorite...it's color was more of a light sky blue, while the others were at least trying to be a deeper blue, but it lacked the reddish flame envelop that the AP/red gum/CuO mixes had, making it feel more like a full ...

GIANT SILVER SPARKLER = INSANE!

Today I finally filmed my giant DIY sparklers, and I've gotta say, the silver sparkler did not disappoint...although it was quite smoky!
