Angel 1x7 FULL Reaction

Doyle really needs a break... although I did enjoy the focus on his character and some of his past this episode.

But that cliffhanger!!! Dang...

Angel 1x7 FULL Reaction

It’s annoying to me for continuity reasons. If the show was making a concerted effort to make both shows part of one universe you would have thought that they would have been more careful. Having said that, I think it was the early 2000 and shows on DVD that were widely produced were just becoming a thing and I just don’t think television shows were always written back then as much with the expectation of multiple time consumption. It was more garbage in, garbage out. That’s the only excuse I can think of. It would never happen today.

Another great Angel reaction! So much fun! Although I was so annoyed that we didn’t get to see a Cordy and Doyle date. I think their banter would’ve been hilarious. But it was so nice to see Cordy finally see what a sweetheart Doyle is and also how proud you were that Cordy wasn’t really a “mean girl.” I felt a sense of relief there Thor! haha…As for the ep, I loved how they opened up Doyle and how we got to the root of his insecurities, which in the end was really him not accepting himself. And I agree with you, there is something so tragic about Doyle and I like they were making parallels with Angel regarding that (the theme of first loves and accepting the demon within). I also loved your closing thoughts on the bachelor antics before the wedding cause I was thinking the same thing. I don’t judge people for having strippers before their wedding either and I’d honestly be curious to attend a hen night that had one just to see if it’s anything like the hoopla they make of it in movies lol…BUT I totally relate to your point about having those kind of activities because it does seem like a “single” person’s mindset even though I’m sure most people do it for fun. However, in movies they kinda present bachelor parties as a metaphor for “freedom.” If marriage is the loss of freedom then why do it? And it’s a running theme (at least in movies) that marriage is a death sentence, “the old ball and chain,” “dead bedrooms”…it’s a bizarre concept to me. Shouldn’t it be a celebration that one doesn’t need to pay for a stripper because you’re getting that “fun” for free for the rest of your life? haha. And I personally don’t equate marriage/ commitment to obligation or duty at all, so there’s that too. So yes, I agree, this episode did a great job bringing up those questions and also the issue of trust that can come with that. Anyway, I had a blast with this one but 1x08 is my absolute favourite so I’m all psyched up for that! :)

A very good episode, indeed. The groom is the one who appears in the chapter "Anne" of Buffy, where he talked to homeless people and there he met "Chanterelle". It strikes me that they "recycle" characters with actors with such recognizable faces. I love Angel and Cordelia's loyalty and friendship towards Doyle. I think it's something mutual and well deserved, since he shows a deep and, so to speak, "pure" character, with good intentions. Now it remains to wait for your reaction to the next chapter of Buffy. Make it soon, please! Thank you very much for this reaction and I will be biting my nails waiting for the next one.
