Hercules (1997) FULL Reaction

Comments

Yeah, I'm sorry about the new format, I definitely recommend watching the movie on your own device/ screen if you're going to watch these full length reactions just to understand what's going on. As far as youtube edits, I wouldn't mind posting those early as well if that is something you would prefer to watch, (although at this point I'm not quite that ahead of schedule with all my editing). Thank you for being so polite :) I will do my best to get those ready for early access moving forward!

I didn't notice the reference to Bacall when I watched, but now that you point it out I think that's right on. I think Meg was refreshing and intriguing as a character, a nice change from common Disney archetypes, and I honestly wish the film had dived a little deeper into her character cause she was quite interesting. And while I don't think the story was quite as sharp as some of the best Disney animations, you're right that it had a lot of heart while still being fun and entertaining to watch

Hey, Nick, I was wondering if it would be at all possible to post the youtube edits early on patreon along with the unedited, like on white noise reacts? I know it's a big ask and it's understandable if you can't. It's just that I'm having a really hard time with the new unedited format, since there's not sound from the movie and no discernable video. I can't really tell what moment is being reacted to. Again, no worries if it's not doable.

YES! You don't know how long I've been waiting for this reaction! 😂 I love Hades so much, so I'm eager to hear your thoughts. Also I'm curious to see if you saw the similarities between Meg and Lauren Bacall because to me, her eyes, the voice and her sultriness felt like a direct reference haha. This film to me was the last of Disney renaissance as it was already moving toward the less 'traditional' way of storytelling (ie: more jokes/ pop culture references). I do like how they subverted expectations with the a humorous villain and the cynical take on love with Meg....but what I prefer about this compared to 'Frozen' is that the subversions felt natural and it felt more sincere. There was still that Disney magic with a great message and a lot of heart :)
