The Lion King FULL Reaction

I mean, it's classic, it's beyond classic, it more than lives up to the hype.  What else can be said?

The Lion King FULL Reaction

I’m so behind sharing my thoughts this week but I just really want to say how much I appreciated and enjoyed your in depth commentary on this film. As much as I love Beauty & the Beast and Aladdin, I have to say that Lion King is truly a cinematic masterpiece. - I’m so glad you picked up on the subtle emotions conveyed through the animation. It’s what I love and miss from the Renaissance 2D animation. You could feel so much without dialogue and the expressions/ body movements were just so expressive. - It was also cool how at times I’d think of something then you’d comment on it, like the father son relationship that was so masterfully executed in this film. Mufasa discipling Simba…how he was firm but at the same time vulnerable about losing his son is one of the best portrayals of a good father. It’s a kids film but I loved how in this era, they didn’t shy away from creating mature, nuanced dialogue/ characters. I love it :) - I’m glad you mentioned the pacing as well. I agree that this is one of the tightest scripts…it knew when when to not have dialogue, when to be serious and when to have puns/ humour. And what you said about organic storytelling is spot on too. You really learn a lot about the dynamic between characters without it being on the nose. - And finally, I just really love the rites of passage Simba goes through and the lessons of death, guilt, responsibility…it really reminded me of your 30 day challenge and the topic of pain/ pushing past discomfort. It’s really quite a deep film with some great life lessons. - PS: Notice how without Mufasa’s guidance, how Simba could have easily turned out like Scar who expressed at one point that being King means he can do whatever he liked…which is a parallel to “I just can’t wait to be King.” Anyway, great reaction as always :)

Ah that's really neat, I didn't realize. The names are very fitting

Nicholas Crowell

Fun fact: A lot of the names in Lion King are real Swahili words. Rafiki means friend, Mufasa means king, Nala means gift, Pumba means dumb/silly.

Leah Kotlarchyk

I'm reliving the anxiety just thinking about it lol

Midnight Crypt Worx (Nikki Davis)

The Stampede part of the video game was so intense.
