Ok, this Mom is just next level... but nice little twist
You were close, it was 1997

Please know that the title is not "The Witch" but simply "Witch". It's important because it's a play on the words "witch" and "which". The show is already smarter than you think...

I really like this episode. Good twist and good character moments. I LOVE the opening and Giles' continued confusion over why cheerleading matters that much to anybody :D
I really like Amy too and both actresses do a good job at being each other iyswim
Also gotta love those delivery drivers who drive for about 100 yards straight at school kids and then don't even stop lmao

I always thought it was part way through but this time watching I noticed Amy told Buffy and Giles that 'a few months ago I woke up and...' so it must have been her mother all the time. Although I'm not sure that makes sense because she really seemed to be genuinely nice early on AND she couldn't get on the squad. Maybe she's just a really good actress but was still getting used to her new limbs ;)

'...and be a hero. ' Oh well, since you asked 😁

The show says otherwise, but I've always felt that Amy's mother doesn't switch bodies with her until after Amy loses out on making the team, which means in the early part of the episode when Amy is fumbling about during tryouts, it actually IS Amy. The other theory would be that maybe it has been Catherine the entire episode, and she was having difficulty adjusting to being in another person's body. However, for me Amy seems way too nice at the beginning for it not to be her.

I don't think that's corny that's awesome, and I like that you can tap into that same joy by sharing it with other people

Love hearing that it was a risk starting the show, so glad it took off and did well. And as far as grown man tears, well, I've shed a few myself, and I definitely enjoy when a show or movie hits me in the feels

No way! That's really neat, what a talented actress... and yes, the opening to this episode was really really funny... no cult like the cheerleading cult hahaha

I loved that so much Buffy getting lectured for joining a cult when she just wants to try out for cheerleading always makes me laugh.

Also, the opener of this episode with Giles going off on her joining a cult to pan over to her cheer outfit is one of my fav openers

Charisma Carpenter was actually a cheerleader for the San Diego Chargers back in the day so her cheer skills are legit!

This show has been making grown men cry, including myself, since 1997. The first season is campy with heart. My favorite description of this show is that it's about the wonders and horrors of growing up and it has monsters. The first season was a mid-summer replacement for a show called Savannah. They had almost no budget and didn't know if they would get more than one season. The actress playing Cordy actually tried out for the part of Buffy.

Thanks for joining along! I'm excited myself to see where the journey goes, and this episode is my favorite so far. Nice little mystery, cool twist, some deeper themes about parent-child relationships, and lots of funny moments

Season 1 is just a taste of what the show can be. Keep watching! It evolves a lot. Try to make sure you're not watching the terrible Buffy HD remastered version.

I am absolutely always down to watch new Buffy reactors but honestly so happy that you seem so visibly excited about the show, especially this early on. Granted this is probably one of my favorite episodes of the first season so I'm always down to see a first-time reaction to it but genuinely excited to hop back on this roller coaster with you, dude.
