Saturday Update!

The weekend is here! Welcome back! I have been Up To Things

Okay so let's start with the non-game stuff first:

Canada Post is still on strike but is switching to a rotating strike. That basically boils down to mean that the mail system will be working again, but slowly and kind of unpredictably. This is good because anyone who was unlucky and had their package stopped by the strike should see it move and work its way to them now.

However, I think I'm still gonna hold off on opening the store. I'd really prefer a more stable mail system before I let customers pay me again. Canada Post is still technically on strike and there is still no agreement or solution that could stop things from halting again. I've been burned too many times!

I did happen to get a rather unexpected delivery of 13 boxes though from UPS. Busted my damn stitches moving them and rebuilding my storage racks to fit them LMAO [ dw I'm fine ]

What was in the boxes? Well,

It seems I've finally received my wretched little guys. They'll be waiting here just chilling until I'm ready to open the store again.

Now that I've finally looked at them in person, I'm still happy with the quality. The fabric is quite pleasantly soft. If I had any complaint, it's that they're really packed with stuffing! It makes it so that they won't really sit. You might be able to mess around with them and fix that though if you really want him to sit.

Oh! I was also pleased with the packaging. They're each in a relatively tough heat sealed plastic bag. This is great because I've been asked about the situation by people with cat allergies. I'm pretty sure the plushies are quite safe from Willow's dander and fur!

I'll be keeping this updated in a similar way as I kept the YKMET:Strade page updated while I was working on that.

In the game development zone, I've duplicated my files for YKMET:Strade and begun altering the UI for Lawrence. Right now what I have is essentially a copy of YKMET:Strade that's been turned blue and has thorns instead of chains. This has saved me a ton of work on the UI, since I won't have to redevelop most of it. There will be some new things I have to develop later, but for now I think I should switch to breaking down Strade's script so I can start writing the script for Lawrence.

I like the cold and sad vibes of the blue. It suits Lawrence.

I also spent quite a bit of time working on concepts and art tests:

I think I've settled on the final look for Ashe, I'm happy with this! I'm also feeling pretty solid on Lawrence's design. I think it was easier this time to find what I wanted since I spent so much time getting used to the art style in the production of YKMET:Strade.

I'm actually a bit surprised at how quickly my concepts are coming together for this in general. I was a bit worried when I did the planning vod because I felt like the original BTD2 version of the path was such a shitshow, but new ideas have come in relatively quickly. I feel creatively inspired. I'm also trying to keep a mentality of telling this story for myself in a way that works for me. I need to shed the useless fear of what people are going to think. When I do, the inspiration flows again.

It was a surprisingly productive week!

I do think that I'm going to take Monday off next week though. Monday is Thanksgiving and I want an extra day to decompress from visiting family today ^^; [ Canadian thanksgiving is in October if any Americans are confused ]

Next week I expect that I'll be doing script work. I'll be stripping down Strade's script and starting to write Law's script. I mentioned last week that I need a new kind of struggle bar but I think I'll wait until I reach the spot I need it in the script so I can be sure of what exactly I want with it. [ I want a precision style check instead of the button mashing one I made for Strade. Lawrence's script asks for more tense and slow gameplay ]
