Saturday Update!

Hello again my friends! It's time for updates!

Reminder: The DLC is secret so please don't tell people about it! <3

Last week I was scrambling and juggling a LOT of customer service from my store, so it was pretty difficult to get work done ^^; but I did finish both backgrounds that will be used in the DLC! [ And some camera sprites ]

The DLC will only have 2 backgrounds, but they're both special! They're actually 9 times the size of my normal backgrounds- 3x the height and 3x with width. The reason for this is that I'm experimenting with moving the backgrounds to give the illusion of the camera in game moving freely! 

I'm very excited for people to see the final result of this, because I think it's working out pretty great :D All the animations are fully programmed already- that's part of what I was doing when I made and inserted all the placeholders.

Here's some pictures from them- I'll slice up the pictures into what you can actually see on screen at once, since posting the actual backgrounds will make the details too small to see.

I'm quite happy with them! I've already inserted them into the game and I'm very happy with the vibes.

Next week I'll begin the work on the sprites, which I am a little nervous about haha! I hope I can do them justice and make them as nice as I'm hoping for.

This DLC will feature a new sort of hybrid approach between sprites and CGs. There are no full screen CGs at all- instead I'm making the sprites more dynamic and laying them over the more dynamic backgrounds. I'm excited to see how it all turns out!

Although, this does mean that there's a LOT of sprites of varying difficulty. In fact, there are 99 sprites for me to make 🤣 However, I think a lot of them will be mercifully quick to create since many are expression variations or simple objects. But there's also a lot 'CG-like' ones that will be quite difficult too.

Because of this, it's still actually pretty hard for me to estimate how long the rest of the art will take! I still hope to be able to be done with these sometime in February but I admit I'm really not sure how realistic that is right now.

Anyway, that's about all I have for this week! Excited to keep moving forward with this!
