Tony Stark leaned back in his chair, his eyes glued to The Screen. "No, no, no, Harry," he said with a smirk. "You’ve got it all wrong. Mary Jane doesn’t like Peter." He paused dramatically, letting the words sink in. "But it’s worse than that, kid. Your competition isn’t Peter Parker—it’s Spider-Man."
"Not everyone is a billionaire like me," Tony added, flourishing his words. "Some of us have to rely on charm, wit, and, oh, I don’t know—saving people from burning buildings!"
Before he could pat himself on the back any further, a voice interrupted him. "Do you think Mary Jane would like you?" Tony froze, turning to see Pepper Potts standing behind him, arms crossed and a teasing smile on her face.
"(⊙o⊙)...Pepper!" Tony stammered, caught off guard. "When did you get here? How come I didn’t notice?"
"I just arrived," Pepper replied, walking toward him with a smile. "And I heard someone being overly narcissistic."
Tony quickly adopted a rare expression of panic, fumbling for words as Pepper chuckled softly.
[the Green Goblin leaped out of the frame, his sinister grin filling the display]
The sudden change startled many viewers, including a man in Florida, who was so shocked he nearly toppled off the rooftop where he had been setting up a shot
[The scene transitioned to Peter sleeping fitfully on a hospital bed. Aunt May sat by his side, gently touching his forehead. "Peter," she called softly, "go home and rest. You look terrible." But Peter refused. "I don’t want to leave you alone," he replied. Aunt May smiled at his concern. "I feel safe, Peter. You don’t need to worry about me."]
["What can I do for you, Aunt May?" Peter asked earnestly. She shook her head, her voice warm but firm. "You’ve already done enough. You’re working part-time, studying, and spending every free moment here with me. Peter, you’re not Superman!" she teased. Peter laughed despite himself, and Aunt May’s heart swelled with relief. "There’s that smile," she said gently. "I haven’t seen it since Mary Jane left."]
[Peter realized Aunt May had been awake all along. She began reminiscing, her voice tinged with nostalgia. "I remember when Mary Jane moved in next door. You were six years old, and the moment you saw her, you thought she was an angel." Peter blushed, protesting weakly. "Aunt May, that’s not true." But she just chuckled, patting his hand.]
["Peter," Aunt May said seriously, "you’ve always kept yourself so mysterious. How can you expect her to understand you if you don’t let her in?" Her words struck a chord. Peter sat up abruptly, his heart racing as a sudden thought occurred to him. "Mary Jane might be in danger," he muttered, hurrying out of the room.]
[He called her immediately, but when the line connected, it was only a recorded message. Frustrated, Peter muttered into the phone, "Mary Jane, please be safe." His blood ran cold as the Green Goblin’s voice replaced the recording. "Come out and play, Spider-Man," the villain taunted. Peter’s tone turned icy. "Where is she?!" he demanded.]
[Mary Jane woke up groggily, disoriented. A strong wind whipped past her, and she realized she was on a bridge, teetering dangerously close to the edge. She stumbled backward just as the Green Goblin flew overhead on his glider, slicing through a steel beam with terrifying precision. The cut section crashed down, narrowly missing her.]
[As the Green Goblin soared past a sightseeing cable car, he offered a mock greeting to the passengers. The children onboard cheered, oblivious to the danger. The Green Goblin’s glider fired a missile, blowing apart the cable supports and plunging the bridge into chaos. Cars screeched to a halt, horns blaring as drivers tried to avoid collisions.]
[Peter arrived on the scene, his heart sinking at the sight of the destruction. "Green Goblin, what did you do?!" he shouted, his voice echoing across the bridge. The Green Goblin ignored him, grabbing the broken cable of the cable car with one hand and holding Mary Jane by the neck with the other. Both hung precariously in mid-air.]
["Spider-Man," the Green Goblin sneered, "this is why heroes are fools. You never know when a madman will force you to make an impossible choice. Will you save the woman you love or innocent children?" His grip tightened on Mary Jane’s neck, her shoes slipping off and plummeting into the water below. The children in the cable car screamed, pleading for Spider-Man to save them.]
["Being a hero comes at a price!" the Green Goblin shouted, his voice dripping with malice. Peter tried to reason with him. "Green Goblin, don’t do this!" But the villain only laughed. "Your choices define you, Spider-Man," he said before letting go of both Mary Jane and the cable car.]"What the hell? They only know how to bully women and children?!"
"This Green Goblin is so despicable! He only uses Spider-Man's love one to threaten him. He has absolutely no moral bottom line."
"He is just a coward. He doesn't dare to challenge Spider-Man head-on, so he only resorts to such despicable means."
"This behaviour is simply insane! He is no longer worthy of being called a human being, he is a demon!"
"He should be ashamed of what he did! He is a despicable person for threatening innocent people!"
"This method of using other people's family members to threaten them is extremely cruel. This Green Goblin should be severely punished!"
"He is the cancer of society. We cannot let him succeed. We must unite to support Spider-Man and fight against his evil together!"
Due to the delay in the news, many people did not know that the Green Goblin in real life had been subdued by Spider-Man, so when they saw the Green Goblin kidnapping and hurting others, they started to curse angrily.
Meanwhile, J. Jonah Jameson saw an opportunity. He ordered his team to run a front-page headline calling for action against the Green Goblin. "This will boost sales," he muttered. After all, the sales in the past two days were too terrible.
When he got home, his wife scolded him and wouldn't let him go to bed, so he had to sleep on the sofa. His waist was almost broken.
["No!" Peter yelled, his body moving before his mind could catch up. His eyepiece reflected the falling cable car and Mary Jane as he leaped into action. Calculating the trajectory in an instant, he swung toward Mary Jane first, catching her mid-air. Using the inertia of his web, he propelled them both toward the cable car. Peter reached out, grabbing the car’s cable with one hand while securing Mary Jane with his legs. He fired another web to stabilize the cable car, successfully rescuing everyone.]
"Beautiful!" Tony exclaimed, watching the scene unfold. "He used the web’s inertia to accelerate and freed his hand to save the cable car. Now that’s quick thinking under pressure."
Tony admired Peter very much. If he were in his place, he would do the same at most.
"Spider-Man! I want to give birth to little spiders for you!" A fanatical female fan shouted wildly towards the screen.
"Well done! You saved your lover and the child. Quickly beat that damn Green Goblin away!"
"Cheers to Spider-Man! Cheers!" In a bar, everyone raised their glasses, looked at the screen, and toasted to celebrate Spider-Man for saving people!
The screen will not be blocked by anything. As long as you want to see it, you can see it by raising your head. Therefore, even if you are in the room, you can clearly see the content on the screen. Even if you are myopic, you can still see it clearly without wearing glasses.
Even the blind and deaf-mute can see and hear the true appearance of the world through the screen.
Many deaf-mute people also have the opportunity to learn to speak. Before, they could not hear and could not learn to speak. Now, with the help of the screen, many deaf-mute people can imitate the conversation of Peter and others.
Chapter 17: Bomb in the Face
[The children in the cable car screamed in panic, clutching the railings as tightly as they could. The teacher tried to maintain order, yelling for everyone to hold on and stay calm. Meanwhile, Mary Jane’s voice rang out in fear as the cable car swayed dangerously. Peter’s heart raced as his spider-sense alerted him to an even greater danger. He glanced up and saw that the web supporting the cable car was beginning to fray under the strain.]
[In the distance, a ship with its spotlight trained on the chaos approached slowly. Sailors on the deck shouted up to Peter, offering their help. "We’ll position the ship right under you!" one of them called out. Relief flickered in Peter’s chest, but it was short-lived. Above, the Green Goblin’s sinister laughter echoed as he approached on his glider, heading straight for them.]
[“It’s back again!” Mary Jane cried, her voice trembling with terror. Peter quickly turned to her, trying to stay calm. "You need to climb down," he urged. But Mary Jane shook her head. "I can’t! I’ll fall!" she exclaimed, panic etched on her face. "You can do it, Mary!" Peter said firmly, his tone leaving no room for doubt. "Trust me! Hold on tight and start climbing down—now!" Mary Jane hesitated but began to inch her way down the cable.]
[As if to remind them of the stakes, another section of the web gave way, causing the cable car and everyone on it to lurch downward with a sickening jolt. Mary Jane screamed, clutching the cable tightly as she froze in place. Above, the Green Goblin circled back, his cruel laughter growing louder.]
[The Goblin struck Peter with a powerful blow, sending him spinning mid-air. Mary Jane’s grip faltered, and for a terrifying moment, she nearly lost her hold entirely. Mustering all her strength, she clung to the cable as Peter struggled to regain his footing. He stabilized himself just in time, glaring at the approaching Green Goblin.]
[“Come on, Spider-Man!" the Goblin taunted, landing another punch that sent Peter reeling. The force of the hit caused the cable to slip from his grasp, but Peter reacted quickly, shooting a webline to pull himself back into position. Mary Jane screamed again as she lost her grip and began to fall, but she managed to grab the edge of the cable car just before plummeting into the water below.]
[The Green Goblin, relentless in his attack, swooped down, his glider’s sharp blade glinting in the light. Peter’s grip on the cable was beginning to falter, and he slid down several inches. Just as the Goblin aimed a killing blow, something heavy struck him from above, knocking his glider off balance. Furious, he turned to see a group of onlookers on the bridge, pelting him with debris and shouting angrily. "Leave Spider-Man alone, you monster!" one man yelled.]
[The ship finally arrived beneath the cable car, and Peter carefully lowered it onto the deck. Cheers erupted from the onlookers as the cable car passengers, including the terrified children, were safely evacuated. Mary Jane watched in horror as the Green Goblin turned his attention back to Peter. "Spider-Man!" she screamed. The Goblin threw a steel cable around Peter’s waist and yanked him off the bridge, dragging him through the air before hurling him into a nearby building.]
[Peter crashed through the wall of an abandoned house, landing in a heap. As he tried to rise, his spider-sense blared a warning. Looking up, he saw a pile of sharp debris directly above him, poised to fall. Reacting instinctively, he shot a webline and pulled himself out of harm’s way just in time. The debris crashed down, splintering the floor where he had been lying moments before.]
[Before Peter could catch his breath, the Green Goblin followed him into the building, tossing a bomb in his direction. The explosive bounced on the floor before landing directly on Peter’s face. Time seemed to freeze as the bomb detonated, the force of the blast ripping through the room.]
" Gasps filled the air as countless viewers watching The Screen witnessed the horrifying explosion.
"Oh no! Spider-Man!"
"Is he... is he okay? He has to be okay!"
"He... he's going to be okay, right? You better not die, man!"
Seeing Spider-Man being exploded in the face by the Green Goblin bomb, countless people began to worry about him. After all, they had seen the power of the Green Goblin bomb several times.
[When the dust settled, Peter’s mask was partially destroyed, revealing half of his face. He was thrown through another wall, his body hitting a support pillar before collapsing to the ground. The Green Goblin landed in front of him, his expression twisted with anger. "You chose this fate, Spider-Man," he spat. "I treated you like a friend, but you looked down on me!"]
[Peter groaned as he struggled to his feet. The Green Goblin wasted no time, landing a heavy punch that Peter narrowly dodged. The reprieve was short-lived, as the Goblin followed with a brutal knee strike to Peter’s stomach. Peter doubled over in pain as the Goblin delivered a flurry of blows, each one harder than the last.]
[Peter tried to use his webbing to create distance, but the Goblin kicked him back mid-air, sending him crashing into the ground. Desperate, Peter spun another web, trapping the Green Goblin temporarily. He rushed to attack, but the Goblin broke free and countered with a powerful kick that sent Peter flying into a wall.]
[Peter’s body was battered and exhausted, his movements slower and more labored. He raised his arm to fire another webline, but the Green Goblin stomped on it, pinning him to the ground. "You’re done, Spider-Man," the Goblin sneered. "If you hadn’t been so selfish, I might have spared your little girlfriend a quick death. But now..." He leaned in, his voice dropping to a cruel whisper. "I’m going to make her suffer."]
In Stark Tower, Tony Stark shook his head, muttering to himself. "Classic villain mistake. Too much monologuing. Doesn’t he know he’s only making Spider-Man angrier”
"Peter's eyes have become murderous. Why did he had to push too much? Doesn’t heknow that when an honest man gets angry, even he is afraid of himself?" Nick Fury used his one eye to accurately analyze Peter's psychology. He knew that the Green Goblin was going to suffer next.
[“Mary and I will have a lot of fun!” the Green Goblin taunted. Peter’s eyes hardened, his fury boiling over. With a sudden burst of strength, he grabbed the Goblin’s blade mid-strike, his hand trembling with rage. He gritted his teeth, pushing the Goblin away with raw force. Before the Goblin could react, Peter ensnared his legs with webbing, causing him to lose balance and fall.]
[Peter pulled a section of the wall down with his webbing, smashing it onto the Goblin. As the villain struggled to free himself, Peter swung in and delivered a devastating punch to his mask, cracking it. He grabbed the Goblin by the neck, his fists raining down with relentless fury.]
[Finally, the Green Goblin raised a hand in surrender, gasping for mercy. He removed his cracked mask, revealing the face of Norman Osborn. "Peter," he said weakly, his voice trembling. "It wasn’t me. It was the Goblin. I didn’t want to hurt you. Please, you have to believe me."]
[Peter froze, his fists trembling. "You killed those people on the balcony," he growled. "You tried to kill Aunt May and Mary Jane!" Norman’s eyes filled with tears. "That wasn’t me! I couldn’t stop the Goblin. I never wanted this!" he pleaded. But even as he spoke, his hand subtly moved to press a hidden switch on his arm.]
[Norman extended his other hand to Peter, his voice dripping with false sincerity. "Believe me, Peter. This is me, I always treat you as my own son." Unbeknownst to Peter, the glider was silently moving into position behind him.]
Chapter 18: Death of the Green Goblin
[Peter stared at Norman’s outstretched hand, the weight of the moment pressing down on him. After a long pause, he finally replied, "I only have one father, and his name is Ben Parker."]
[Norman’s face twisted with rage. "Goodbye, Spider-Man!" he snarled. Peter’s spider-sense flared instantly, and his eyes darted behind him. The glider, armed with a deadly blade, was rushing toward him with terrifying speed. In one fluid motion, Peter backflipped out of harm’s way, the blade missing him by mere inches.]
[Norman, however, wasn’t as fortunate. The sharp blade impaled him before he could react. A gasp escaped his lips as pain overtook him. "Oh!" he managed to exclaim before collapsing onto the glider. Blood pooled around the wound as his breaths grew labored. Peter stood silently nearby, his expression unreadable.]
[Summoning the last of his strength, Norman looked up at Peter. "Don’t tell Harry," he whispered, his voice barely audible. With those final words, his head fell forward, and the life drained from his body. Peter watched him quietly, his thoughts a storm of conflicting emotions.]
[Later that night, Peter brought Norman’s lifeless body back to his home. He carefully laid him on the bed, his movements slow and deliberate. Just as he stepped back, the door swung open, and Harry appeared. His eyes widened in shock at the sight before him. "What did you do?" Harry demanded, his voice rising in anger. "What did you do?!"]
[Peter opened his mouth to explain, but the weight of the moment left him speechless. Before he could find the words, Harry stormed over to a cabinet, pulling out a pistol. When he turned back, Peter was gone, the room eerily silent.]
[Harry stood frozen, his hands trembling as he held the weapon. The image of his father’s body burned into his mind, his anger and grief intertwining. He sank into a chair, unsure of what to do next.]
In Stark Tower, Tony Stark replayed the scene on The Screen, his sharp mind dissecting every detail. "So, Norman tried to use a surprise attack to kill Spider-Man," Tony muttered. "But really, did he think Peter Parker would go down that easily?"
He gestured to Jarvis. "Pull up the footage of the Green Goblin’s bomb exploding in Peter’s face."
Jarvis complied, displaying the moment in slow motion. Tony studied the scene intently. "That bomb should’ve obliterated him. It’s blown balconies to smithereens and turned people into ash, yet Peter took it directly to the face and survived. His mask was destroyed, sure, but his face? Not even a scratch. Just dizzy and momentarily weak."
Nick Fury rubbed his brows as he flipped through a report from S.H.I.E.L.D. "His physical resilience is off the charts. The dart that could slice through steel barely grazed him. And his recovery rate is equally impressive—he was fighting at full strength minutes after being injured."
"Tony Stark, I invited him to join the Avengers before, but he refused. Later, the Screen on the sky answered Tony's question, and I have always wanted to know what he asked." Nick Fury put down the report in his hand and looked up at Hill who was standing beside him.
"I don't know if he has found the answer. Natasha said he hasn't been to work and has been staying at home every day. I don't know what he is doing. I think I have to go and ask him in person!"
"Go directly to his house? He was very unhappy with you for entering his house without permission in the past..." Hill said standing aside.
"It doesn't matter. He already had a bad impression of me, so it doesn't matter if it gets even worse. Get the things ready. I think he might need it."
[At Norman Osborn’s funeral, Harry stood in front of the grave, dressed in black. His face was stoic, but his eyes betrayed the turmoil within. Peter approached him quietly, his own grief etched across his features. "I’m sorry, Harry," Peter said softly. "I know how it feels to lose a father."]
["I didn’t lose him," Harry snapped, his voice cold and bitter. "He was taken from me. One day, Spider-Man will pay the price. I swear, Spider-Man will pay the price!"]
[Peter’s heart ached as he looked at his best friend, now consumed by hatred. He wanted to tell Harry the truth, but the words caught in his throat. Harry, noticing Peter’s hesitation, softened slightly. "At least I still have you," he said, pulling Peter into a hug. "You’re the only family I have left."]
[As Harry walked away, Peter watched him with a heavy heart. The weight of his double life bore down on him, the words of the Green Goblin haunting him: No matter what you do, the people you love will pay the price.]
[Peter turned to find Aunt May and Mary Jane standing nearby, deep in conversation. He approached Uncle Ben’s tombstone, his thoughts a whirlwind of regret and resolve. Mary Jane followed him, her eyes red from crying. She reached out, and they embraced quietly.]
["You must miss him," Mary Jane said, her voice trembling. "It’s always sad to lose someone you love."]
[Peter nodded. "It never gets easier," he replied, his voice heavy.]
[Mary Jane hesitated before speaking again. "When I was on the bridge, I thought I was going to die," she admitted. "And all I could think about was you, Peter. Not Spider-Man. You."]
[Peter looked at her, surprised. "Really?" he asked.]
[She smiled through her tears. "You’ve always been there for me, Peter. You make me feel like I’m better than I ever thought I could be. You’ve made me feel like myself. And I... I love you, Peter. I love you so much." Before Peter could respond, she kissed him deeply.]
[As their lips parted, Peter’s face clouded with guilt. Mary Jane noticed immediately. "What’s wrong?" she asked, her voice laced with concern.]
[Peter shook his head, his heart breaking. "I can’t," he whispered. "I can’t tell you everything."]
["Why not?" Mary Jane pressed. Peter looked at her with tear-filled eyes. "Because if I did, it would only put you in danger."]
[Mary Jane’s heart sank, but she forced a smile. "Then tell me what you can," she said softly. Peter stepped back, his voice shaking. "I promise to always be your friend, MJ. But that’s all I can give you." Mary Jane’s tears spilled over as Peter walked away, his words echoing in her mind. She touched her lips, realization dawning on her face as she turned to watch him disappear into the distance.]
[The final scene showed Spider-Man swinging through the city, the wind rushing past him. He landed on a flagpole, the setting sun casting a golden glow around him. His voice narrated: "With great power comes great responsibility. This is my gift, my curse. Who am I? I am Spider-Man."]
"Because you're Spider-Man, you don't want to drag Mary Jane down? You're such a pure-hearted kid. It's a pity you didn't meet me, otherwise I would tell you that you can be a superhero and have a love life at the same time!"
Tony sighed when he saw Peter choose Spider-Man and gave up his feeling with Mary Jane. He also felt narcissistic about the fact that he was both Iron Man and have Pepper in his life.
Nick Fury, who had just arrived at the Malibu villa, responded with a hint of displeasure, "That's because you're a billionaire, while Peter Parker is just an ordinary guy. He can't juggle everything on his own—Spider-Man, Aunt May, and Mary Jane. This is the greatest challenge for anyone striving to be a hero."
"Accepting Mary Jane would mean that she would be in danger, which is absolutely unacceptable to him. He would rather get hurt than let the people he loves get hurt."
Chapter 19 New Elements
"And can you guarantee that you won’t put Miss Pepper Potts in danger? How long has it been since the Obadiah incident? If it weren’t for Coulson, Miss Pepper would have been in serious trouble!" Nick Fury’s voice was sharp as he berated Tony Stark.
"I’ll protect her," Tony retorted, his voice defensive. "You don’t need to worry about it."
Fury’s piercing gaze didn’t waver. "You’re famous all over the world! Besides Peter Parker, the most recognized person on the planet is Tony Stark. Even the president isn’t as famous as you. What makes you think you can keep her safe when everyone knows your name and face?"
For once, Tony fell silent. Fury’s words, paired with his steely gaze, left Stark momentarily without a comeback.
"The Screen answered your question personally," Fury pressed. "What did you ask it?"
Tony’s frustration bubbled over. "So what if I told you? Would you know the answer?" His voice was tight with irritation. "It said it’s around me, but I’ve searched everywhere—my house, my lab—and I can’t find the damn answer!" He grabbed a glass of chlorophyll juice from the table and threw it to the ground, the green liquid splattering everywhere.
Fury raised an eyebrow. "What’s that? Since when do you drink anything remotely healthy?"
Tony’s lips twitched in irritation. "You want to know? Fine!" He pulled off his shirt, revealing the glowing arc reactor embedded in his chest. The darkened veins surrounding it were unmistakable signs of palladium poisoning.
Fury’s expression shifted. "Palladium poisoning? How long has this been going on?"
Tony sighed heavily. "Long enough. I’ve tried every combination of elements I can think of, but nothing works. I’m running out of time."
Fury leaned back, considering. "I think you haven’t tried everything yet."
Tony’s brow furrowed. "What do you mean? What haven’t I tried?"
The tension in the room grew thick, but Fury said nothing more. Meanwhile, Stark Industries had become a hot topic, with reporters speculating about Tony’s condition after The Screen’s revelations. Faced with his deteriorating health, Tony made the difficult decision to hand over the CEO position to Pepper Potts. Her promotion touched her deeply, though she worried even more about Tony.
During this time, Natasha Romanoff, operating under the alias "Natalie Rushman," entered Tony’s life. Her flawless resume and striking beauty immediately caught his attention. As a notary, she quickly impressed Tony with her sharp intellect and poise. Under Tony’s approval, Natasha became his assistant, though her real mission was far more covert—observing and protecting him under orders from Fury.
Natasha’s capabilities were evident from the start. During a sparring session, she effortlessly disarmed Happy Hogan, leaving Tony both impressed and intrigued. Her professionalism and charm made her a seamless addition to Stark Industries.
One evening, as Tony and Fury’s conversation heated, Natasha entered the room wearing her tactical suit. "I’ve cut off all external communication from this location," she announced.
Tony stared at her, wide-eyed. "You’re fired!" he blurted out.
Natasha smiled coolly. "That’s not up to you." With Pepper now the CEO, Tony no longer had the authority to dismiss her.
Fury gestured toward Natasha. "This is Agent Romanoff. She’s been undercover at Stark Industries to ensure your safety."
Tony groaned, rubbing his temples. "You could’ve at least given me a heads-up."
Ignoring his protests, Natasha retrieved a syringe and injected it into Tony’s neck before he could react. "What are you doing? Are you harvesting my organs now?" Tony yelped.
Natasha’s tone was calm and clinical. "It’s lithium dioxide. It’ll slow the effects of the palladium poisoning and buy you more time to find a solution."
Fury seized the opportunity to reveal Tony’s connection to S.H.I.E.L.D. "Your father, Howard Stark, was one of the founders of this organization. He believed in your potential to finish what he started."
He handed Tony a box filled with Howard’s old belongings. Inside were blueprints, newspaper clippings, and a recorded message. Fury left Agent Coulson behind to keep an eye on Tony, instructing him to stay put. "If you try anything funny," Coulson warned, "I’ll stun you and watch you drool on the floor."
Tony rolled his eyes but complied for the moment. He delved into the contents of the box, poring over Howard’s notes and watching the recorded films. One detail caught his attention—the 1974 Stark Industries Expo model. It wasn’t just a piece of nostalgia; it was a blueprint for something greater.
Despite Coulson’s objections, Tony insisted on retrieving the model from Stark Industries. With Coulson reluctantly accompanying him, Tony transported it back to his villa.
On the way, he met Pepper who was busy and overwhelmed, but because of the presence of Natasha and Coulson, Tony didn't talk to her too much.
Back at the villa, Tony examined the sand table closely. Its label read, "The key to the future is here." Inspired, he used Jarvis to create a digital model of the design. As the visualization unfolded, Tony realized that the model held the answer he’d been seeking. It was the blueprint for a new element.
Energized by this discovery, Tony set to work building a prism accelerator. With Coulson’s reluctant assistance, the villa was transformed into a temporary lab. After meticulous calculations and countless adjustments, Tony successfully synthesized the new element. It would replace palladium in the arc reactor, saving his life.
News of Tony’s breakthrough spread quickly. Fury received word from Coulson and allowed himself a rare smile. "He actually did it," Fury remarked, impressed. Yet, Tony’s challenges were far from over. The Senate had called a hearing to demand answers about Stark Ironman Armor.
Chapter 20 Spider-Man 2
Just a short while after Stark finish dealing with the congressional hearing, the Screen, which had remained silent for what felt like an eternity, suddenly lit up again.
"Wow, I thought the screen would stay black for a year or two. And here it is, bright again already?" Tony quipped sarcastically, fresh from attending a congressional hearing. He leaned back in his chair, smirking as the illuminated Screen captured everyone’s attention.
This time, the Screen ignored Tony’s commentary entirely. Instead, passionate music swelled, and images began flashing in rapid succession.
['She looks at me every day, Mary Jane, and I really hope she knows how much I love her! But she will never know that I have chosen a life of responsibility—a life destined to be without her.']
['Who am I? I'm Spider-Man! I have a sacred mission! I'm also Peter Parker. I have a job to do!']
Peter Parker's heartfelt monologue struck a chord with many viewers. The idea of sacrificing personal happiness to protect the ones you love is a bittersweet reality for superheroes.
During the Screen’s month-long hiatus, Spider-Man's meteoric popularity had waned slightly, though he still dominated newspaper headlines and retained a loyal fanbase. Remarkably, New York experienced a wave of immigration as people sought to live in the same city as their hero.
Spider-Man's presence even gave the NYPD a rare period of calm, with crime rates plummeting. Yet, his existence also presented a dilemma for the department's leadership. While Spider-Man had become an international idol, celebrated by billions, his presence made the police appear ineffective.
To save face, a senior official devised a clever solution: Peter Parker was offered a position as a specially hired officer of the New York Police Department, complete with a salary. The arrangement placed no restrictions on him—his name was simply added to the payroll. Peter, after some thought, agreed. Uncle Ben expressed pride in Peter’s decision.
Meanwhile, Mary Jane's newfound fame led her to pursue acting. Although her skills were limited, she was given the lead role in an upcoming production as an experiment. Aunt May and Uncle Ben also moved back into their old home, enjoying a semblance of normalcy.
When Peter became a special officer, Commissioner Stacy held a press conference, warning reporters not to harass Peter’s family under threat of arrest. The move was effective—no journalists dared linger near their residence.
As for Norman Osborn, he faced charges of intentional homicide. However, due to the side effects of the serum he had used, his sentence was reduced. He was currently confined to a mental hospital for further evaluation.
[On the streets, promotional posters of Mary Jane adorned walls. Peter rode a scooter, helmet on, gazing absentmindedly at one such poster. A pizza shop employee yelled, "Peter! Peter!"]
[Peter snapped out of his daze and braked hard, narrowly avoiding the owner. The rear wheel lifted off the ground as he skidded to a halt.]
["Peter, you're late again! You're always late!" the clerk scolded.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Aziz! I got delayed!" Peter apologized hastily, shoving the edge of his partially exposed Spider-Man mask deeper into his pocket.]
[Aziz, visibly frustrated, handed Peter an order. "This delivery was placed 20 minutes ago! You have 8 minutes to get it there. If you’re late, not only will I lose this client but also they will get this Pizza for free, if that happen you’ll also lose your job!" he barked.]
[Aziz sighed and added, "Peter, you're a good kid, but you make people worry. This is your last chance! 44 blocks in 7 and a half minutes, or you’re out!" Peter froze for a moment, stunned. "GO!" Aziz shouted, snapping him into action.]
[Peter sped off on his scooter, weaving through traffic as the engine strained. At one point, he was forced to brake when a bus blocked his path. Glancing at the clock, he realized time was slipping away. Determined, he ducked into an alley.]
[A black man on the street noticed Peter entering the alley with the pizza. Moments later, Spider-Man emerged, swinging on his web with the pizza in hand.
"What! Spideman stole that guy’s pizza!" the man exclaimed, his eyes wide.]
Tony burst into laughter, clutching his sides. "Hahahaha! Did that guy seriously think Spider-Man would steal a pizza?" Even Nick Fury cracked a rare smile.
The man on the Screen noticed himself and exclaimed, "WOW! I'm on The Screen!" His sudden recognition drew attention from the crowd. Embarrassed, he turned and ran, his face reddening. Fortunately, his dark complexion masked the blush.
[As Peter swung through the city, he noticed two children playing on the street. Their ball rolled into the road, directly in the path of an oncoming truck. Without hesitation, Peter hurled the pizza aside and swooped down, rescuing the kids just in time.]
[After ensuring their safety, Peter flew back up to retrieve the discarded pizza. A man on a nearby rooftop noticed the pizza sitting next to him and grabbed a slice. Just as he was about to take a bite, Peter’s web snatched the pizza from his hand, leaving the man stunned.]
"You dare to steal Spider-Man's pizza? How big is your courage" a man in a suit said with a smile.
"It looks so delicious, Mommy, can we have pizza tonight?" A little girl was looking at the screen, drooling with greed.
[Peter arrived at Harmattan, Burton & Smith Law Firm and climbed through the cleaning room window. His entrance caused a racket, knocking over brooms and supplies. Flustered, he straightened up and carried the pizza to the front desk.]
[The receptionist, chewing gum, informed Peter that the delivery was late and refused to pay. Dejected, Peter grabbed the pizza and headed back to the store, only to be fired by Mr.Aziz upon his return. Aziz the advertisement off Peter’s helmet, venting his frustration. The Screen faded to black once again.]
Tony’s laughter subsided as he reflected on Peter’s struggles. "Poor Peter Parker," he murmured. "He has to save lives and work a regular job. If this keeps up, something’s bound to give."
