2025-12-15 19:22:16 +0000 UTCRewatching these couple of episodes, after all is said and done, adds a whole other layer of heartbreak and deep emotions to every scene and character, same as with Breaking Bad. People are gonna debate one show is better than the other. To me, that is apples and oranges comparison. People have said Better Call Saul is slower, but they were saying the exact same thing about Breaking Bad back then, especially when it gained double the audience in the fourth season and people couldn't binge watch it anymore, had to wait week to week, and then a year between seasons. Same thing here, certain kinds of fans of Breaking Bad had no patience for this kind of show starting out. If you had people rooting for Walter White, the same way you had people rooting for Light Yagami and people rooting for Eren Yeager to win out, of course what this show wants to do starting out is not gonna be their preference. This show has a better plot structure, or rather a more deliberate structure, and is more technical, and uses more symbolism and theme parallels and deliberate character beats to convey the overreaching thematic narrative. Breaking Bad was its own style, it own genius. This show is its own as well, and was the best show when it was airing, and both shows are some of the greatest of all time. Reminds me of my old AP language arts literary classes and the way they wanted us to break down novels, stories and poems in essays and project papers. And this is "just" a show. Also, let's give props to Peter Gould, the creator of Saul, as much as Vince Gilligan, this is his baby too, alongside the whole crew returning to make this all possible. And to think, some fans were skeptical or just derided the need to have Better Call Saul exist at all. The whole thing turned out godly.

2025-12-10 16:54:26 +0000 UTCGosh, I just can't believe that some people say that Better Call Saul has a boring start. It's such an engaging new story that connects so beautifully with Breaking Bad. All the characters are immediately interesting to me, and of course, Saul steals every scene. People got so pumped up on Walter killing people and taking over the world at the end of BB, that they forgot that it all started just like this.
