The episode "Midnight Sun" opens like that, then no OP intro, just right into it where Armin "dies" and they have to make the choice between him and Erwin, The episode "That Day" open to no credits, just an eerie walk through Marley as we are silently shocked that there is a more advanced civilization where Grisha came from, and we find out his tragic backstory. Recently the episode "Night of the End" opens to just Jean fantasizing about just a normal life, all he ever wanted since season 1, trying to cope with the fact he chose certain death in this final mission to save humanity, against his friends and country and Eren. All to honor the memory of his friend Marco who died in season 1. And Hange, all to honor the hearts given in sacrifice by all the people she knew. When the episodes or specials open like that, you know you better get something to wipe the tears or just have a drink to get ready hahahaha.
