Future Video Topic Roadmap: Summer 2020

Hey all, If you guys caught my 2000 Subscriber Stream, I mentioned that I have a little bulletin board with a road map for upcoming video projects. So I just wanted to share a picture of this to give you some idea for what types of videos I am wanting to make in the near future. So here are some of the things that I will be working on, listed in the order that I more or less want to tackle onto them.

Amateur's Guide to Moomin (Parts 2 & 3)

If you haven't already seen it, I have already completed Part 2, and Part 3 is going to be the slated video release for June. While I did capture some video footage for the Moomin Shops back in December, and want to do a potential follow up discussing the presence of Moomin in Hawaii, I am unsure if I'll get to that one.

The Sorrows of Young Werther: The First Fandom Drama

This is a book that I have wanted to talk about since I started making videos, and there are a lot of elements to this book that I feel are reflective of the current landscape of fandom. Not just in how the story is presented, but the history of how it was received, one with suicides, alleged suicides, adaptations, fan fictions, and moral panic found all throughout Europe throughout its publication. This will be my next video that I plan to work on.

Peacecraft and Fan Toxicity

If any of you know anything about me and my wife, you know we have a strong history with the different things made by the Mcelroys. As a result, I know some people are interested in me discussing some of their different shows and podcasts. For a while, I had a hard time thinking of what I could possibly say about them that hasn't already been written about in other places (here are some   that  I recommend) Though after bemoaning how N*ck R**in*** utterly ruined Car Boys, a show that for the longest time was my favorite web series ever produced, I stumbled back onto another Polygon series Peacecraft, which got me to thinking about how certain toxic and negative behaviors within fandoms are encouraged depending on the online environment a group is placed in, and want to write about how Peacecraft illustrates this, albeit at a much less toxic level compared to other notable examples.

Analyzing Jeff Smith's Bone

This video is mostly just me wanting to talk about a series that I don't see discussed more despite being one of the more compelling examples of gradual world-building and narrative escalation seen in fiction, let alone comics, in recent years.

Cats: One Year Later

Ever since I found out that Tom Hooper was going to direct Cats back in 2016, I knew that I had to see it on opening day. After being released a year later, I wish to contemplate this film and its issues now that we have more insight into what the production was like, in order to discuss how this film and Tom Hooper expose the darker elements seen within our media's fascination with Auteurs.

The Greatest Showman and Historical Revisionism

Another video that I have tried to write about for a long time, I want to talk about some of the thing I dislike about The Greatest Showman, a movie that no one except its fans actually remembers, but It serves a good discussion point with how we discuss historical figures in film, and what sort of responsibility that falls in line with.

*New Series* - Second Chance Gaming

I want to start delving back into more writing about video games, and in this spirit, I had an idea for a series what I examine games that I believed are underrated and deserve some form of a second chance, or at least an examination of the positive qualities of these games to see what could be iterated upon by developers to enhance these qualities.

On paper, I think these will end up being shorter videos, though knowing me, that will surely not be the case. The current games I plan to examine are Backyard Skateboarding, Avatar: The Last Airbender (Nintendo DS), Kid Icarus: Uprising, and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. I am sure there some spicy takes to be had there so stay tuned for that.

As you can see, there are a lot of these videos that I have on the docket, and would potentially tide me over for potentially the next 10 months if I stick to my 1 video a month quota. Though I think something I might attempt to do is try to build up as much of a back catalog of completed videos as I can over the summer. Any time I complete one of these videos, I'll upload it to here for all you nice members of the Squirtle Squad to view, but this might have the nice side affect of being able to still release videos even when things get busier for me once school starts in the fall.

All of this is obviously up in the air and can be subject to change, but I would like to know which of these listed videos seem most interesting to you! Let me know in the comments below.

But until next time, Thanks for the support.

Best Wishes.
