Cliche Chapter 576: First day gone wrong

Asahi spent nearly three days indulging his wives in the honeymoon phase of his wedding. Then began a new chapter in his life — his university life.

Asahi looked around the room. Saeko, Shiori, Rini, Shizuka, and Nao — everyone who would accompany him to the university was present at the table except for one person. Yuriko and Rika were also there but they would leave for their own tasks soon—Yuriko to help Fubuki and Rika to slay monsters and rise in hero rankings.

Asahi threw an inquisitive glance at his mother-in-law. “Where is Saya?”

Yuriko flashed him a knowing smile. “She’s a little tired,” she said, her words implying something more than exhaustion. “That’s to be expected at this stage.”

He raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms, not amused by the excuse. “She’s been dodging me for weeks. What's the real reason, Yuriko?”

Shiori grinned ear to ear. “Ohoho, I know it. I know Saya’s secret!”

"What is it?" he asked skeptically.

"I can’t say it," Shiori said with a pout. "I promised Saya to be quiet."Asahi leaned forward eagerly, only to be disappointed when Shiori shook her head and said she couldn't reveal it — she had promised Saya she would stay quiet.

“She knows jack,” Saeko rebutted. “We haven’t met Saya since our fight with Sirzechs’s friend.”

Shiori shrugged sheepishly. “Ehehe. I got caught.”

Asahi crossed his arms with a frown. “I’m not in the mood for jokes. It’s irritating to get ghosted by my pregnant wife.”

Shiori also folded her arms, giving her an equally serious frown. “You’re taking it too seriously, Asahi-kun. Hmph.”

“Are you… imitating Saya?”

"Gee, I'm not cut out to act tsundere," Shiori replied with a laugh, "I can only be dere."

Saeko sighed. “Shiori, you’re being extra edgy today. What happened?”

Shiori paused and looked thoughtful for a moment before answering. "I think I'm anxious," she admitted, her voice quieter than before. "It feels weird returning to a normal school life now."

Saeko nodded in agreement. "We all share that sentiment. It's strangely exciting to go back to the noisy learning environment."

“Really, what a splendid chance to make fresh memories!”

“Agreed.”

The undead infection had changed their world and forced the sisters to adapt to a new lifestyle, but now they would be reunited with their pre-apocalyptic norm. Except that they now possessed beyond gods and their godslayer lover would accompany them.

Asahi smiled at their enthusiasm before turning to Yuriko with an evil grin. “Tell Saya to meet me tonight or I’ll do bad things to her mother.”

“Oh my, I’m being held hostage by my son-in-law.” Yuriko put on a melodramatic act, fanning her face with a hand. “What a tragedy!”

“Heh. Just do as I say, and I’ll let you go.”

“Unnn.”

After settling the matter, Asahi turned to Nao, who seemed lost in her own world. “Ready for your interview?”

Nao had been feeling butterflies in her stomach for days as she felt anxious to go through with the interview. She had frantically reviewed her notes multiple times and practiced her responses with Asahi, but it still didn't seem like enough. She delayed the interview for another day, hoping she'd feel more prepared.

Honestly, he was ready to mind control the staff to let Nao into the school, but decided against ruining her hard work.

Nao revealed a big smile. “Absolutely. I’ll smash through everything.”

Shizuka giggled. “You’ll get an easy entry if you just said a S-Class Hero is your lover.”

Rika nudged Shizuka. “Don’t teach our sweet Nao to abuse power.”

“It won’t come to that, you two. I’ve got this interview in my bag.”

“Why is there no one here? Is today off?”

After teleporting to the university entrance, Asahi couldn’t sense a soul in the entire university. The air was heavy with an eerie silence in contrast to the honking horns and bustling crowds behind him. He glanced back and saw the road jam packed with vehicles, as though a mass evacuation was happening.

‘Let’s see what’s going on here.’

He sharpened his senses and eavesdropped on a couple inside a car.

“Only fifty five minutes left… Fuck, fuck, FUCK! Why are these fuckers not moving?”

“We can’t go there…” the young woman said in a downcast voice. “We’re stuck in this city... this is the end… We can’t escape the meteor.”

“Fuuuuck this. Where are our heroes when we need them?!”

Asahi stopped eavesdropping as soon as he heard the word meteor. “It’s already that time, huh.”

Shiori's eyebrows scrunched together in a frown, her disappointment palpable in the air. “This sucks. I was so excited…”

Rini and Saeko said nothing, but the disappointment was mirrored in their eyes.

Asahi stepped forward and reached out to both of them, rubbing their heads in consolation. "It's fine," he said. "We'll come back tomorrow. Saeko, why don't you take everyone to help Yuriko? I'll stay and deal with this..."

His phone suddenly buzzed in his pocket, and he pulled it out. He immediately knew who it was — Sekingar, his relationship manager from the Heroes Association. He could already tell what the call was about — it was a plea for help with the giant meteor.

“Sekingar–”

“Asahi, we need you,” Sekingar screamed through the phone. “Please come to the Z-City Branch as soon as possible. It’s an emergency summons for all the S-Class Heroes.”

“I’ll be there.”
