My Best Friend Dared Me - Part 1: The Picture

All characters in this story are 18+

The night was the usual—gaming, snacks, and the kind of casual banter that made Zack and I a solid pair. We were sprawled out on the couch, controllers in hand, trash-talking like we always did. I could feel the heat of the room, but more than that, there was this charge in the air. Zack was wearing that old worn-out T-shirt he always rocked, sleeves tight around his arms, looking like he hadn’t tried too hard but still turned me on. Maybe it was just me, maybe it was the way we kept messing with each other.

“You’re such a noob, dude,” Zack teased, leaning forward, eyes narrowed at the screen.

“Shut up, bro,” I shot back, giving him the middle finger. “At least I don’t get my ass handed to me by a bot.”

He laughed, a loud, almost obnoxious sound that filled the room, and I caught myself glancing at him a little longer than usual. Fuck. That wasn’t new, though. I’d been catching myself doing that lately. But who knew? It was just the usual shit. We were just bros. Right?

We kept playing, but the teasing started to feel different. The words hanging between us weren’t just stupid jabs anymore. There was something more, something deeper.

Finally, Zack slouched back into the couch, grinning that cocky grin of his. “You know what would be funny?” he said, his voice lower now, a glint of mischief in his eyes.

“Uh oh. When you start with that shit, I’m about to get embarrassed,” I said, shaking my head. I already knew where this was going.

He smirked. “I dare you to send me a nude.”

I snorted, almost choking on my drink. “What the fuck?” I shot him a look, but he wasn’t kidding. Zack’s eyes were dancing, waiting for me to bite.

“You heard me. Bet you won’t do it.” He leaned in a little closer, his smirk daring me to take the bait.

I stared at him for a second, and my heart skipped. “You serious?” I asked, laughing it off.

“Dead serious,” Zack said, looking at me with this challenging, almost predatory gaze. “You think you’re too cool for a dare?”

I scoffed, suddenly a little hot under the collar. There was no way I’d do it. No way. But...

The idea did linger. It was one of those stupid, impulsive thoughts that crawled into your brain and made you question everything. Zack and I were just friends, right? Nothing else. But this could be... funny? Yeah, it could be funny.

I grabbed my phone, unlocked it, and clicked on the camera app. The whole time, Zack was watching me, that cocky grin never leaving his face. Was he serious about this? Did he think I wouldn’t actually go through with it?

I focused the camera and snapped a quick selfie, but then my mind went somewhere darker. I let the shot linger a bit longer.

I flipped the camera around, holding it just right, and sent him a pic. Not the typical nude that I’d send some girl who was into me—nah, I wasn’t playing it safe. I made sure to show a little more than just skin.

The second I hit send, I tossed my phone at Zack. His face twisted from playful teasing to shock, his eyes wide. He stared at the screen, his jaw slacking as he took in the picture.

“What the hell, dude?” Zack choked out, his voice barely above a whisper, but I could see the bulge growing in his pants.

I couldn’t help but laugh. “What, you think I wouldn’t do it? You think I’m some pussy?”

Zack wasn’t laughing anymore. He set the phone down between us and turned to face me, eyes flickering to my crotch for a split second before snapping back to mine.

“You’re fucked up, bro,” Zack muttered, but there was something off in his voice. A crack in the mask.

I raised an eyebrow, feeling a little too proud of myself. “Come on, I thought you’d be the one to start shit like this.”

He didn’t respond at first, still staring at the phone like he was trying to figure out if it was real or some kind of joke. Finally, he cleared his throat. “You better not be messing with me. That’s—shit, that’s too far.”

I shrugged, trying to keep my cool, but my heart was pounding in my chest. “Hey, you dared me, remember?”

Zack finally picked up the phone again, but he didn’t look at me. His thumb scrolled through the photo. “Damn, Cam,” he said softly, more to himself than to me. His voice had dropped an octave lower, like he was struggling to keep his shit together.

I smirked. “What’s the matter? You gettin’ hard, bro?”

Zack looked up at me sharply, his face a little flushed. “Shut up,” he said, but there was no heat behind it. It was more like he didn’t know how to react, and that turned me on even more.

I leaned in a little, my eyes never leaving his. “What, you gonna act like it didn’t do something for you? You looked at that shit, twice. Didn’t you?”

Zack opened his mouth, but the words didn’t come out. Instead, he just stared at me, his chest rising and falling faster. “I’m not gay,” he said, his voice shaky.

I leaned back, laughing again. “Nah, bro. But you did watch the whole thing. You wouldn’t have watched it twice if you weren’t interested.”

Zack shifted, rubbing the back of his neck. “You don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about.”

“Then why’s your face all red?” I teased.

Zack looked away, trying to play it off, but I could see the tension in his shoulders. “Whatever, man. You think I’m gay or something?”

The question stung, but I was too far gone to care. “You watched it. Twice,” I repeated, grinning. “Don’t pretend like it didn’t do something for you.”

I grabbed my phone, ready to get up, but before I could move, my screen lit up. It was Zack.

A text.

"Bet you won’t send a video."

I froze.

My heart pounded harder.

I looked up at Zack, and he was grinning now.

“Fuck,” I muttered. “You’re a fucking asshole.”

Zack raised an eyebrow, his grin widening. “What’s the matter, Cam? Chicken?”
