Bliss - A reflection
Added 2021-07-30 21:25:55 +0000 UTCGenerally, writing Bliss was weird and took way too long. I'm quite the fan of how the story turned out, but I'm going to admit - it took forever.
The solution moving forward seems to be that if, or rather - when, I get the motivation to write something longer (Bliss ended up being 8000 words long), to, well, not split it up to 1-1.5 page long captions. I found that a serious limiting factor when making Bliss.
Moving forward, the next time I inevitably commit to yet another project like this, it won't be in the traditional "caption" format. It will still have, you know, pictures+text, just... less pictures per page. The old "tumblr format" is very good for this, if you know what I'm talking about - adding pictures at given points in a short story to get the imagination going.
I don't really have an idea for a long story, but when I do, I'm honestly expecting myself to maintain a much higher level of quality, as Bliss did have some pretty clear pacing and weird setups that went nowhere if you ask me.
I know that for many people such a story is no big deal - amazing authors like Limerick put out ones ten times as long multiple times a year (and they're amazing), but I guess this is just me saying that the next "long thing" I make will look a bit different ;)
