Online Room Maps
Added 2023-11-02 18:03:36 +0000 UTCI'm thinking about a new “map” concept for online multiplayer rooms, here are the big lines:
- Add a new optional "Map" feature to online rooms, that could be configured by room administrators.
- The administrators could select a map from a default list or draw their own maps using an editor (probably in a future phase).
- A map could be a square grid (20x20 tiles, 50x50 tiles, 100x100 tiles, etc.), like the Kinky Dungeon or a D&D battle map.
- Member starts in an entry zone on the grid and can move from tiles to tiles using arrow buttons or WASD. They would move slower with bound legs, very slowly when hogtied or be stuck in place if caged.
- Players would see a limited range of tiles around themselves, maybe a 6, 8 or 10 tiles radius. They would need to move to explore the full map. The stronger the blindfold is, the less tiles they could see around.
- In the online chat room, players could switch between the regular member view (our current view) and the map view. In regular member view, they would only see players visible in the tiles range.
- Specific zones in the map could have different backgrounds. If you moved in a garden, you would see a garden background.
- Hearing could also be affected. If a player is deaf, he could only hear other players that are at a closer range.
- Room administrators could give themselves superpowers and always see everyone, like a Dungeon Master. They could script traps if a player enters a specific tile. Maybe automatic tentacles or slime in a D&D setting.
- There could be blocked tiles on the map, like a wall, a tree or any other obstacle. Preventing players from crossing that tile or seeing through it. Administrators could build a prison, a dungeon or a labyrinth. Or script automatic doors that locks behind a player.
It's only an idea right now, it would need to be refined. But do you think it could be fun? Does it have potential? Thanks!

2023-11-06 14:29:50 +0000 UTCActually, an idea: make it so we can download and save the rooms. This way we have to upload them when we create it ourselves, but with an editor, we can create our very own rooms easily, and they arent' stored on the server.

2023-11-04 13:45:54 +0000 UTCI didn't mean to preserve _every_ room. Just rooms which are well accepted. Maybe by counting actions and chat messages which increase a counter vs. a timer which reduces said counter.But first we would need those rooms. After that we can talk about preserving ;)

You don't want to spend hours everytime again to place traps and individual tiles. Maybe well made rooms could find a way be permanent, even if they are empty.
