3D Bondage Club

Hi everyone. I’ve done some programming research lately, using Unity (for PC games) and Three.js (for browser games), to learn how to animate 3D objects. Yoloflying from DeviantArt also prepared a demo of an imported model from 3DCG in Three.js and it seems promising. There are lots of demos out there if you want to see what Three.js can do: https://threejs.org/examples/  Check the animation one to see a walk & run cycle and the loader / Miku Miku Dance for possible character poses and customizations.

The challenge is huge: Converting some of the single player rooms to 3D would probably take a while, creating a character editor/customizer/dresser will also take time, coding 3D multi-player chatrooms where you can roam around, go meet others and tie them up will take even longer, and converting all the assets that we have will be the biggest task of all.

Players: Do you think it’s worth it? Should we try to create parts of the game in 3D or at least explore the possibility for it? It means that less time will be allocated to improve the actual game, but we could get a brand new environment in the end.

Programmers: Have you ever coded in a 3D environment like Unity, Unreal or Three.js? Have you ever used Blender? If so, do you think it would be feasible to code a 3D Bondage Club?  Can you estimate how big of a task it would be?

Thanks a lot! Stay kinky.

Yep, we'll see if it's feasible pretty soon. It might be too much work for the payback. The shop will not tell you the requirement level but the requirement range isn't that hard to guess. Basic items like cuffs or ropes will be from 1 to 4. Advanced items like straitjacket or armbinders will be from 5 to 8. Enjoy!

Bondage Projects

It sounds interesting, would be happy to explore that possibility as a player, i guess a final decision can only be made if we see some 3D stuff to decide if we like it then. Another little thing I wanna ask while writing here: Is there a possibility to find out the selfbondage requirements of items even if you match them or while browsing the shop? I would like to level that skill, but finding out the best stuff for that while shopping isnt easy ^^"

Jan Graskamp

It will need to be mobile compatible for sure. We can't forget about mobile players :)

Bondage Projects

How would this affect mobile players?

It won't work that easily since many 2D items did not come for 3DCG. That's part of the big challenge.

Bondage Projects

Yes, it will be quite a challenge to recreate all the assets. If 3D works, it will probably take months and months to create everything back.

Bondage Projects

Oh yes, the game is already great in 2D. Thanks for your input :)

Bondage Projects

One more thing, if you export models from the same software (3D Custom Maid) you're using right now, in the early stage 3D avatars can coexist with 2D items. Just give them identical poses as the current 2D avatars when they equip the 2D stuff.

CuvyanTaylor

I think it's definitely feasible. And I agree with the stationary avatars first idea. A big challenge will be the restraints, though. Some preliminary research in rope / cuff models / physics could lead to a more realistic assessment.

CuvyanTaylor

While I would love to see this, I don't think it's worth it. I think you have a great game that's fun and simple to play. I'm not saying not to do this but I think the game is great as it is.

Tyler Perez

Absolutely, I will start slow and see if the technology is ready for a 3D browser game that runs smoothly. Thanks a lot :)

Bondage Projects

It's definitely the future of the game, but should take it slowly without much experience. How about just starting with stationary 3D avatars first, and maybe 3D bondage positions, and the animations, rooms can go from there?

It could be a great feature if it's feasible :)

Bondage Projects

I wanna this for long time.

Doing a basic room wouldn't be too hard, but is there a simple way to render the 2D characters we have now in 3D ?

Bondage Projects

That would be great if we go that route! Thanks a lot.

Bondage Projects

I did a bit of work in three.js and if this is something you were looking at doing, my first step would be to port the existing 2d rendering engine to three.js. This would then enable you to just create 1 3d room leaving the rest as 2d. I know three.js does support sprites, so that would potentially avoid having to do huge amounts of 3d graphics work initially.

I haved used Blender alot to help others make 3d models for other games (Mostly weapons) so I would happily create some 3d Assets for you

I think that once the current bondage club feels complete then you should start a 3D version, so that you can focus on one project at a time

FizzyGir

This would be a really impressive step forward and I think could bring Bondage Club to new opportunities and I think it would be a worth while project to work on,

FizzyGir

I'm not sure if a browser game will possible in full 3D, maybe the technology isn't there yet and it will need to be a new game yes. I'll have to run more tests though. Thanks :)

Bondage Projects

I'll have to do more researches for sure, and yes, maybe it's not possible or the payback would not be worth it. Thanks!

Bondage Projects

Damn, if game would become fully 3D (i know, i know, i want too much), it would be really awesome thing! Though i think it might be better to start it as a new game (with downloadable game client) and not as a part of a browser Bondage Club. And having a programmer is a must have for this.

Mechio

Hi Ben, if i be honest i do not think it is possible to bring that game to 3d in a acceptable time. if i see how many time it takes to create a 3d-picture that looks good enought, i think its not worth the time. If you have a big team arround you it could help, but there are so many things others in 3d. you must create the rooms, furnishings, items, clothing and many more. i think it also could be very difficult to create nice animations specialy with differend shapes of figures. but i like to see a room in 3d . maybe we see so what goes and what not.

Lovebdg1

I actually worry more about client strain, especially if we keep the game in the browser. We'll see.

Bondage Projects

Yes, a first 3D version would have lot less content and assets, but after time it could become tons of fun, we'll see how my research goes.

Bondage Projects

Thanks. Yes, adding the third dimension would certainly help with immersion. I have tons of research to do on it first though :)

Bondage Projects

Yes, a 3D environment could certainly add to the visual experience.

Bondage Projects

Yes, the challenge is to know if all that hard work is worth it and if players want 3D or are happy with 2D. If it takes 4 times to make an asset, it might be too much work for the payback. I'll have to do tons of research first.

Bondage Projects

Thanks. Is that a browser game or regular PC game? Can you customize your character and meet other online players?

Bondage Projects

Yes, it would slow down the progress on the current game but could become a path for great new content, we'll see :)

Bondage Projects

Yes, we'll need to test on many types of devices before moving forward with that.

Bondage Projects

Absolutely, if I ever plan to realistically move to 3D, I will build many polls to query the players.

Bondage Projects

I still don't know if it can be done, but I'll continue to explore that avenue. Thanks.

Bondage Projects

Thanks a lot! We'll see how my research goes.

Bondage Projects

Thanks! I still need to make lots of research to see if it's feasible but a 3D club would be great for sure.

Bondage Projects

Honestly I do not think it would be worth it. The strain it would put on your servers would be extreme.

neosuduno

With the current system, things do seem to be quite limited on how far you can go as a developer, I think that as long as you do a proper job and also optimize the game it could become great. I imagine there will be less content in terms of outfits and other things because these would need to be properly fitted and look good in 3 dimensions. All in all, I believe that this could be a great opportunity to also establish yourself in a space that currently only seems to be inhabited by second life. The main issue I do see is that you would lose cellphone compatibility but that hardly concerns me.

Anaîs Sokolova

I wanted to answer of my own opinion so for me it would be really great to go explore this world in even more immersion that would allow that the game would not be fun for me but it would be much more alive and surely more interesting to play for new or old people like me for example ;) So I'm all for this idea and I would have liked to help you to do it as soon as possible but I don't know anything about graphics in general. )

I know it will be a very big task, but I think it would be worth it. This would make the game a lot more interesting and exciting.

Memoduxplus

Might catch some flak but I'm gonna play Devil's advocate; 3D is HARD. Both in the time and the expertise to make it work. Animating/creating on a flat plane is far, far easier than 3D, as will be any minigames or coding, because it's an entire extra dimension to keep track of and for things to foul up in. I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, far from it! But I want to make sure you're aware of the difficulties; I would expect it to take anywhere from 1.5 to 4 times longer to do something in 3D compared to 2D, as a general rule. If you want to try it, start small. 3D player avatars would be a solid update but still manageable... I think, I've no idea what you've got happening behind the curtain.

jukehero461

trying to make a 3d version, you can try to be inspired by the game rack 2: furry science

I would happily pass up a month of new content in exchange for an attempt at 3D. maybe try remaking a room in unity and putting that up along with a poll, to gauge both interest and the difficulty to realize a 3D remake

I'd be down for being able to view your character in 3d. Also a thing about going to 3d is it could alienate people running on low end hardware

Garry

I like to see the game in 3D. I also suggest hold a vote for it and if pass hold another vote for any improvements of the game some people want you focus earlier you start moving to 3D. Sorry if my english was bad...

If you believe it can be done, and there is a relatively significant amount of contributors who believe they can work with the format change, I don't see why not. It'd basically be the next obvious step up to what we have at the moment

Alex Xela

I think it's worth trying to make the game 3D.

Angel Molina

Going to be honest I would love to see things in 3d. I know it would take a while but i think the end result would be entirely worth it.
