Sir Cordiale and Princess Rosapina (commission)

A lovely and tender sketch commission for Prince Borgon.

He has a whole story and lore with these two and wrote this for the piece:

"As another long night fades away,
here I stand, to blame the fate that keeps us apart,
waiting with all my heart for that distant day
when we'll walk together up above
and far far away, my unforgettable love…"

With these parting words, Sir Cordiale addressed the tomb of
Princess Rosaspina della Marea, just a few years ago.

A gravestone as cold as it is empty, since the body of his beloved,
as well as her soul, have not belonged to this earth for several seasons now.
A memento to the memory of the brave vestal who held the heavy crown of Valmeridia
on her head for several years, after the sudden death of the legitimate sovereign.
A light burden for her soul, but too great for her doe body.
And so, even the Princess Regent perished before seeing the crown on the head of a legitimate heir.
And though Sir Cordiale knew how necessary that sacrifice was for the princedom of Valmeridia,
his heart was equally uneasy. But fate, as we well know, has a sense of humor.

When events had also led the former Captain of the Guard to walk the path to the afterlife,
he was once again taken away from the warm touch of his beloved by a promise that transcends time and space.
No longer alive, but not yet ready to see what lies beyond the mist that extends beyond the path to the afterlife,
the ghostly guardian of castle della Verbena lives his unlife by bringing smiles and laughter to the living.
And keeps within the most hidden corner of his ghostly heart the warm feeling that still binds him to his beautiful princess.
And he likes to imagine that, wherever she is, his Rose is also waiting for him with open arms.
They may be far apart, but they're still close at heart… And yet, so far away~

Writing a lore scene always requires a lot of energy, especially when it involves setting up events I haven't yet fully captured in my comics.
If the scene isn't clear to you, I recommend reading Perchance to Dream, which will perfectly illustrate the situation depicted.
