Personality Series Selection

Hey everyone 💜
We hope you're having a great Saturday!

We have been thinking about starting some of the BTS fun series and we were wondering if you could help us pick which one from the below we should watch first?! 😊

Comments

Run BTS would have been my choice, sad it's not in the poll. I wish more people voted for American Hustle Life because it shows a journey they went through in regards to how they shaped into a hip-hop group. I think it's more important music wise than the other 2.

Kaitlynne Walters

Just something to add, if bon voyage ends up winning, I think you should consider not starting with season one, and go straight for season two. It’s better edited, more scenic, overall funnier, and you actually get to see their bond even more in my opinion.

DJ Nightshade

people are sleeping on American Hustle Life, it was such an important experience for them. and it's so good as well

Elise

I honestly think army make “American Hustle Life” seem like the worst thing ever. Yeah there are some cringe scenes but overall I think that show is reaallyyyy good and was a very BIG reason why they are who they are today TBH‼️

1anm1n

I think Run BTS is best to start off with

I think eventually they will watch AHL because it is a part of BTS’s journey. There are several positive moments in that show, especially Warren G and the various people who worked with the members. I think we can agree there were some bits that were cringey or out right cruel but overall, the bits where the members smile, laugh, and shine are worth watching.

If you're looking for a fun series, RunBTS is hands-down the best. Most of the variety show clips you've seen are actually from RunBTS; they weren't treated well on the few variety shows they were invited to, so they just made their own. Be prepared to only sort of understand the rules, to pause and back up to catch it all, and laugh until you cry. You will see all sides of their personalities come out, and it's seriously the best. American Hustle Life is an important part of their journey, and absolutely worth watching, but I wouldn't call it a "fun" show necessarily. They learned a LOT, but it's difficult to watch in places. Bon Voyage is their travel show, and it's chaos of a different sort as the boys travel as any other young adults might. In the Soop is an extension of Bon Voyage; when they couldn't travel during Covid, they did a staycation instead. Again, if you watch them from Bon Voyage 1 to In the Soop 2, you will see how they grow and mature over the years. Of course, you can't go wrong with any of them! 💜💜💜

I’ve only seen half of season 1 of in the soop, so I’ll watch you react to anything. I was a bit bored by in the soop. They don’t do much, lol, and it reminds me of where I live so the scenery is just regular - I think this only applies to me tho. I’m sure city people love it. I much more appreciate the antics and games of are you sure? And run bts - I’ve only seen snippets, but they are so cute and young. I love baby jk. I hear bon voyage is a good precursor to are you sure? So I would love to see that.

Zairi M

I think either run bts or the suchwita episodes with the members as guests would be a good start.

Yuka

You should watch the show instead of going off a few clips it’s actually a very good and heartwarming show

Ana

I think Run BTS might be a better place to start off but Bon Voyage and ITS are amazing too 💜

Joy

I think you should consider watching RUN BTS episodes too, it helps give you a grasp of their personalities as well. And it's so much fun too

Julianah

I think suchwita might be better for when they get into their recent solo work. Just my opinion though.

Julianah

I agree with this

Julianah

I honestly think run bts might be the better intro to BTS and their dynamic. People could rec their favourite episodes, you don’t necessarily have to watch them in order, although some games are split into parts sometimes. Bon voyage is a bit chaotic, especially the first two seasons. In the soop is great but just so chill, I don’t know if you will love how chill it is when you don’t necessarily know the guys that well. American hustle life, I haven’t watched back since I first watched it in 2015 😂

i'm glad some people talked about American Hustle Life. i was afraid to voice my opinion because i thought it was a hot take. i've only seen clips of it on twitter and decided not to watch it cause i know it would piss me off. also feel free to watch and skip whatever you want, i promise you BTS won't take it personally

Call me Ariel

First season of Bon Voyage is a little sad. V isn't there at the start and than RM (my love) has to go back to Korea early. Third season is the same, V isn't there at the start and Suga has to leave early. If you do Bon Voyage, start at Second Season in Hawaii. You can watch the others later if you want and like it (I hope you do!) Also In the Soop lets you see more of the individual personalities because they are doing things they want to do (mostly eat, bring snacks to watch it). And get ready to read read read subtitles! RM (mostly) talks very fast and it is okay to go back to re-read if you aren't used to fast pass subtitles. I think watching Carpool Karaoke on youtube might be best! Great intro on them too, personality wise. Though the video might get blocked when you guys post it, it has happened to other who have reacted to it.

Howeller

I agree with everything that’s been said about American Hustle Life—if you’re curious and want to understand the beginning of it all, it’s definitely interesting to watch. I personally love In the Soop, but for someone just starting out, I think Bon Voyage is a better intro!

Deborah Camara Kaplan

You might want to check out Suchwita. It's a Suga talk show where he invites korean celebrities and talk about a lot of deep and funny stuff and of course the members were guest too and Suga himself made this show as a place to help the other members promote their solo albums before enlisting. They talk about a lot of things including stories that we've never heard or never got the details for before! Episode 1 starts with RM and then after each member's solo work gets released, we got an episode of them in the show (like i mentioned RM was in the first ep followed by Jimin in ep 7 and Suga as August D with RM hosting on ep 9, Jin was on ep 12...this one was recorded before he enlisted in 2022 but the ep was released way later for festa 2023, J hope was on ep 14, Jungkook appeared two times....one after his single was released and the second time after his album was released, he was on episodes 15 & 21 and the last member to appear was V on episode 18). When you have time to check it out, it's all available on youtube on their official channel Bangtan TV 😊

I wanted to vote for American hustle life but I know some army are too sensitive about it. So I’m definitely voting Bon voyage it starts earlier in their career and you can see the journey. It also is waaaaay more entertaining than in the soop. Bon voyage they do a whole a lot of activities and have to navigate the world by themselves. Also PLEASE DO NOT SKIP ANY SEASON OF BON VOYAGE START AT SEASON 1. Idk why people are even telling you to skip like y’all aren’t super smart and capable of reading subtitles. Please never skip any BTS content it’s just disrespectful. People who tell you to skip are just saying it to watch their favorite season or episode and don’t care about your journey

Ana

Bon voyage and In the soop (soop means forest by the way) are series that i always go back to watch in times when i need to laugh and at the same time get comfort...you also will get to see the members interactions and how deep their bond and love for each other. I chose in the soop because of how comfortable and serene everything was (of course you can't have BTS without chaos too lol) bon voyage seaon 1 & 2 might be too chaotic for you guys so you might get lost but if you are gonna start with s3 or 4 (each season is 8 episodes with their behind the scenes) the quality is much better in those seasons (doesn't mean 1 & 2 are bad, they are amazing too). In the soop was during covid so it was in korea but they went to different beautiful places in both s1 and s2. I absolutely love these two shows so, at the end, whatever wins i'm all for seeing your reaction to them!!

American Hustle Life was how I was introduced to BTS - and I stayed in. It's different. Lol. But Bon Voyage or In the Soop - you can't go wrong.

KiMinYoongi

I love both Bon Voyage and In the Soop. The BV seasons get better as they go!

kika

I've only seen parts of American Hustle Life. I have not seen the other two. I thought I'd have time while they're serving in the military. Nope!

Cindy Bee

The various Bon Voyage series started before In the Soop and although a lot of the Bon Voyage is scheduled events and planned games by staff, you still get to see how the members interact with each other and the general public a lot. For In the Soop, they just have a blast hanging out doing whatever they like, it’s less scheduled. I love them both so much and will often go back and watch each series from the beginning because they’re so funny and heartwarming.

I agree, it was definitely hard to watch, especially the very first episode and then intermittently throughout with the disrespect to almost all of the members. I must say, the final episode was the best one simply because of the concert they held and the fact they were happily returning home. There’s a reason the members never bring up this experience when reminiscing about the past.

American Hustle Life is a tough watch since the amount of times they were just harrassed on there is insane... Jungkook was only 16 at the time (it was filmed in 2014) and they were all for the first time in the US I believe. While I do think they learned a lot from being on that show, a lot of ARMY will tell you that they either refuse to watch it or just didn't continue watching it. Personally, I could not finish it because it was not only cringe at times but the members were really disrespected sometimes... So I would bear that in mind if you do decide to watch it at some point.
