Things I Cut From the Roseanne Video

Hey everyone,

I decided I should do a bit more with this Patreon if it's going to be of any value to anyone, so here are some expanded notes on things I had to cut out of my big Roseanne video. 

First off, to any $5 backers wondering where your name was in the credit, that'll actually be in the follow-up video that comes out in two weeks. Anyone who became a $5 backer on April 1 or later won't be in the new video due to some overly complex YouTube copyright nonsense. My videos in the future shouldn't have this sort of problem, so I hope this is the last of these delays. Unless I make another video about a 80's/90's sitcom.

Second big thing before I go into the cuts is that the next video's content is already locked in, and as many have guessed/requested, it'll be about Season 10 of Roseanne and Season 1 of The Conners. I wish I could have taken some of the reactions of viewers of that first video into account before making the video, but I finished it before publishing the first one, so it is what it is. I may do a premiere or something fancy for that one. We'll see if I can find/make the time.

OK, so for the stuff I cut out. Originally there was a look at how the Conner family celebrates Halloween. It was always a major episode for each season where this working class family seemed to have thousands of dollars to decorate their home and buy fancy costumes, but I had a bit of trouble finding much insightful commentary for those episode. I did move some of that content into the next video though. 

Roseanne's abuse at the hands of her father was something I wanted to touch on in the video, but it just made so much more sense to include it in the next video. Anyone who knows about season 10 of Roseanne can probably guess why.

The cut that killed me the most was getting rid of the section where I talk about the Disney World episode where the Conner family goes on a trip to the magical kingdom that looks suspiciously like an ad for the park. This was a thing in the 90's where a bunch of sitcoms on ABC had episodes that just happened to take place in Disney World. This was also shortly after ABC was purchased by Disney. Funny how that works out, huh?

What was really neat about the Disney World episode though is that it was immediately followed by an episode where David gets a job working at a theme park that operates like a cult. Kinda funny how those episodes follow each other, right?

I also had to cut out the bit about Roseanne Barr and Tom Arnold having an animated TV show for a little while called Little Rosey. The first season can be found in bits and pieces on YouTube. It was cancelled after the first season. There was also a special a year after it was cancelled where Roseanne and Tom actually voiced their characters and they interact with cartoon characters some people have actually heard of, like the Carebears and Bettlejuice.

There was also various small bits about Roseanne Barr being shitty backstage that I cut out because I thought it was getting repetitive. The short version is that she was a terror, and I think I captured that in the video.

So that's all the stuff I cut. That I can remember anyway. There were some other bits and pieces, but if I can't remember it, it probably didn't matter.
