Ideas for Next Sitcom Retrospective, Plus a New Project!

Hey everyone,

I wanted to let you all know that the next sitcom retrospective is moving forward full steam ahead. It's already recorded and I'm working on editing it together. I'll be taking a look a the criminally short-lived series My Name is Earl. I'm exited about this because I was able to find some footage that, as best I can tell, either isn't online, or is very difficult to find.

As for the next show I'll be covering, that's what I'm asking you all about now. I will be putt...

TimCast IRL is a Bad Podcast

This is another one of my videos in my series of watching a week of content, and it went some places. I had to do some extra reading/watching, but it should offer some insight into how bad Tim Pool has gotten, and the ridiculous people he surrounds himself with.

One concern I had with this video was that I spent way too much time on the various witness testimonies in the trial section. If that feels like it drags, please let me know. It would require a lot of heavy editing, and probably...

Is Arrested Development a Classic?

I came a bit late to watching Arrested Development, never catching it in its original run, but instead finding it in reruns. My first time watching it was completely out of order, and I had to figure out how all these plotlines and characters fit together over the course of three seasons. It was confusing.

Over time I gradually pieced it together, and grew to really enjoy the show. Before then, I had a few friends who were avid fans of the series, so I had a sense of what that fandom wa...

The Weird World of Tucker Carlson Originals

First off, I should apologize for the delay in getting this video online. This early version was done nearly a week ago, but I've been having some major issues with the channel I've had to focus on sorting out.

Originally this video was going to be about Conservative documentaries, including Dinesh D'Souza's 2000 Mules, but Tucker Carlson Originals as a series was so varied that I thought it deserved an episode of its own.

As you probably might expect, it's a very wild series with...

That 70s Show Retrospective

That 70s Show was a series I regularly watched back when I was younger, so this was a fun trip down memory lane. Only my memory stops at roughly season 4. As you'll see in this retrospective, with good reason.

The two biggest challenges for this video was trying not to be overly negative about the later seasons, and finding some way to talk about Danny Masterson. While I think I managed the first part of that equation, the second one, maybe not so much. That said, I think it still turne...

TV Show Nominations, Upcoming Stream, and Other News

Hey everyone,

I'm planning on doing a livestream next week. The tentative time and date is
going to be October 9 at 1 PM, ET. I'll be streaming on YouTube.

I'm also accepting nominations for the next TV series I'm working. I'll be posting here and a public community post on YouTube, but patrons get some extra weight towards their choices. I should warn you all though, if you choose something really obscure, even being a patron probably won't make up for the hundreds of people ...

Steven Crowder and the Right Wing Outrage Machine

Originally this video was going to be me watching Steven Crowder for a week, and while I ended up watching for two weeks, I decided to do something a little different than go through his many bogus claims.

One story in particular caught my eye regarding a drag-themed brunch in Texas. Aside from being one of Crowder's biggest videos of the period I was watching, it was also a really nice example of how so many of the stories he covers every day are made up out of nothing.

I tried t...

Scrubs Retrospective and an Update

I never watched Scrubs when it was on the air, and I think I may judged it from the vibe it gave off moreso than the content of the actual show. Sitting down and watching it for this video helped me appreciate it for what it is, and what it accomplished.

There are a few newish things I tried with this one, mostly in the presentation. Caption boxes look a little different, and the ending of the video uses a big musical number instead of the usual spiel from me.

As usual, if a...

Looking at Terror on the Prairie and The Daily Wire "Media Empire"

This was just supposed to be a review of Terror on the Prairie, but luckily for all of you, I found some stuff that was far more interesting to talk about while making it. While digging into the Daily Wire's push to expand their offerings, I ended up learning all sorts of things about how they popularized their content on Facebook, and I have my own hypothesis for what they're trying to do with this big new initiative.

Another fun fact about the making of this video is that I was horrib...

New Video

This video was a collab with the wonderful Zoe Bee, and she'll have a video up early on her own patreon soon enough, if you'd like to check that out. She does have a quick cameo in my video though, so it'll give you a taste of what to expect.

As usual please let me know if there are technical or factual issues you spot in the video. This one isn't as thorough as my usual work since it's meant as a quick, easy video. Even so, I don't want to put any bad info out there, or...

A Look Back At Frasier

This is the second longest series I've covered, and I'm kind of shocked how quickly it all came together. Although the last week was spent wrestling with copyright issues, the video seemed to move along quickly and easily. I'm hoping this means I've figured out how to make these a little quicker, but I'll have a better sense with the next one (which I've already started on).

If there are any issues with this video, as always, please let me know. That includes bad edits, audio glitches, ...

The Christian Right and Elijah Schaffer

This is a look at the rise of a conservative commentator, and the structures that helped make that possible.

Schaffer has been doing this stuff for the past four years, and you might have seen him in a few of my older videos. If he seemed in any way moderate or reasonable, hopefully this video will dispel that idea.

If you have a question about this video and want it included in the version that goes public, please leave a comment below. Also mention if you'd like your name includ...

New TV Show Retrospective Nominations

Hey everyone, as a thanks for being my patrons, I'm giving you all the chance to nominate a show. So if there's a particular series you'd like to see me cover, leave a comment below on this post.

Boy Meets World Retrospective

This marks my first attempt at a show from the TGIF lineup. For those who are unfamiliar with the programming block, I have a little history lesson at the beginning of this video.

Boy Meets World was never one of my favourites when I was a kid, but I did watch the first few seasons. And visiting it so many years later, I was surprised at how much of it still holds up. The first season is still a bit shaky, but it's still pretty good. And the later stuff had some really special moments.<...

The Babylon Bee Guide to Wokeness

This review is a bit on the lighter side as it was a challenge to find anything interesting to say about this book aside from the observations I made in the video.

Larger pieces about conservative comedy have already been made, and this is meant more as application of those ideas rather than breaking new ground. That said, I did find a few things in here that I'm pretty sure I was the first to notice. Particularly the bits at the end.

Also, if anyone has a question they would like...

A February Update

Hey everyone,

It's been an interesting month when it comes to working on the channel. The new video is coming together nicely, with me currently editing the audio.

This one is going to be a book review. It's a book I've wanted to cover for a few months now from an author I'm sure everyone will recognize. Some of my observations for this one owe some credit to another YouTube video I'll be referencing, but I found a few things here that I think will surprise people. I hope to have ...

Jimmy Dore and How Left Wing Criticism Goes Bad

It's always a bit of a risk responding to content that is supposedly on your own side of the political aisle. But after watching weeks of this guy's content, I'm pretty confident in calling it superficially leftwing. If you're someone who enjoys his videos, I hope you go into this one with an open mind.

I had been considering making a video about Jimmy Dore for a while, but what put me over the top was thinking up that CIA joke in the opener. At first I was just going to do a whole vi...

A Retrospective on The Golden Girls

While working through all the delays on the Cheers video, I had been making progress the whole time on this project on The Golden Girls. The original plan was to get it up sometime around the 100th birthday of Betty White, but sadly she passed away while I was working on this. I had actually recorded the whole thing the day before she passed away, and then had to go back and make some sad updates. The comments over the credits are completely new, and I got a little more emotional than I had i...

Cheers Retrospecitve

I'm so glad to finally get this one up!

This is  one of the biggest videos I've ever done, and the copyright drama was  among the worst. It was done back in October, but I've only been able to  get it up now. I'm looking forward to everyone getting a chance to  finally watch it.

I'm hoping there are only a few minor errors (or ideally none!) with this one, because re-uploading a fixed version and getting it through the copyright claim process might take a while...

Tucker Carlson's Patriot Purge, and a Fun Update

This special was a real challenge. Part of it was the sheer density of claims. It was hard to isolate most of them and tackle them one at a time. And there was at least one thirty second rant that I had to ignore entirely because it would have taken fifteen minutes just to respond to it. To give you a sense of how ridiculous it was, it ended with the claim that the American government was cooperating with ISIS.

There are a few parts of this video I'm not 100% sure are clear, so if there...

My Week With Tucker

This video covers four episodes of  Tucker Carlson Tonight, two episode of Tucker Carlson Today, and one  episode of Tucker Carlson Originals. I guess I got lucky in that Tucker  took Friday off, though the Originals episode was, I guess, payback.

What  shocked me most was how numb I've apparently gotten to this guy, so it  wasn't as miserable an experience as you might have imagined, even if a  bunch of things were left out of the script because the densi...

October Update

Hey everyone,

This has not been the best month for new content.

My sitcom retrospective has been locked in a copyright battle for a while. At the moment, I'm taking what might be one of my last few shots to get it online. If that doesn't work, I'm honestly not sure what I'll be able to do to get this video online, short of some massive edits and cuts, which I really don't want to do. The rights holder is also moving incredibly slowly, which makes every step take even longer than i...

Cross-Political Friendships

This video itself is reflection on how people perceive friendships with political differences. In a way, it's a combination of two videos (one about private friendships, the other about public ones), but they pair together nicely.

This is a rougher cut than I usually upload because I thought it would be fun to include some extras.

The original version of this video had an experimental opening I was considering recording footage for. But ultimately I don't have the cinematography s...

The Revolutionary Baby-Sitters Club (with Mexie)

This one, I'm sure, is a surprise.

For those unfamiliar, this is a video about the Netflix series of the same name. Those unfamiliar with it, I think, are in for a real treat. Although aimed at a younger audience, it is a stellar show, and surprisingly progressive in its politics. If you wanted to know where the real leftist propaganda was, this is it, right here.

Mexie and I are both huge fans of this show, and talked about making a video about it over a year ago. Things came up ...

I wanted to let you all know how the next few videos are coming along. I have never been so busy with this many different videos!

At the moment, I'm editing together a very exciting collaboration I made with Mexie. I don't want to spoil too much, but it does involve a very popular Netflix show. Which means it might have some copyright issues to...

Reading Some Conservative Nonfiction

What started out as a fun video ended up taking a few interesting turns. Although it wasn't by design, I was surprised at how the three random books I chose fed into each other thematically. Though it may just be that all of these nonfiction books are very similar.

There were lots of little things I couldn't include, like how these books recycle anecdotes and for some weird reason the Shapiro and Rubin book had the exact same font for all their headings. But I didn't want to go too long...

How Do We Talk About The Cosby Show?

This one nearly killed me.

The full story of the production nightmare that was this video will have to wait for a post-video stream, but the short version is I had to record the audio for this video four times. What you will hear in this video is a patchwork of all four records. I've tried to make it as smooth as possible, but if anyone notices audio issues, let me know, and I will try to sort this out.

In addition to the audio woes, the project folder for this video exploded, and...

June 2021 Update

Hello everyone,

This has been quite the month.  The current video is looking to be maybe  my biggest ever. The audio, with no clips spliced in, is sitting at  roughly 1:35. I have so much additional footage that it could easily go  over two hours, but I'm trying to keep this one sensible in length. Looking at a Terrible "Comedic" Biopic About Bernie Sanders

A few months ago, an awful movie called "Free Lunch Express" came out, meaning to be a satirical look at the life of Bernie Sanders. While some people might vaguely recognize some Sanders cliches, there's very little of his actual life in this movie. What's truly offensive is how relentlessly unfunny it is.

This video is a bit drifty, and could probably have used a more focused script, but I have to be honest, it was tough covering this movie. I had to choose a few select aspects to di...

An update for May 2021

Hey everyone, I wanted to give you all an update to let people know what's happening with the channel.

At the moment I'm finishing up a script for a video that's a movie review, not unlike the one I did for Run, Hide, Fight. This one is a bit more obscure, but it let me talk about some other interesting movies, and there was some fun behind the scenes stuff I was able to uncover as well. I have no idea how the copyright claims will shake out for this one, but I'm hoping to have it done ...
