Moving on with the quick neck piece project.
It's fun so far ;) to model the small details :)
I did the back lacing and the front hook and eyes fastening.
I usually do the grommets using textures, but this time I did them in 3d. This makes them catch the light a bit differently. I tried to keep them not that hi-poly ;) of course I UVW-mapped them before copying and aligning with the main surface.
I also did the lacing using a spline and sweep modifier with automatic mapping generation - this makes texturing easy later on. Besides, I added shell modifier to the fabric surface with strip edge mapping option selected and it also makes the mapping quite straight-forward.
It's ready to texture :) I'm quite excited tbh. It can be hell in terms of rigging but let's not worry too much now ;)
