Vale Vane - Hero Sprite character

Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas! Today's bonus release is a special present!

This is a character that you might have seen before-- she was featured in 2023's "patron request thread" banner artwork.

I was reminded about her last week when I designed the Hogan sprite for the RPG Maker project (I like red hair on a hero because it's strong contrast against grass and other common RPG tileset environments).

This sprite was originally made for a game idea I had. The character is Vale Vane-- and her airship crashed into the underworld, so the game would have been about assembling a crew to sail her pirate ghost ship!

Of course, project never got anywhere beyond these sprites and some design documents. Originally I wanted to keep her for myself, but many patrons have asked about this sprite...

And... since I've moved onto some other projects...

...I realized... maybe it's finally time...

...to let Vale Vane free to sail the open skies!

Vale is notable because she has extra animations to emphasize her as the main playable character: her idle pose is separate from her movement animation, which is a 6-frame loop. Both animations work in all eight directions.

Since my original idea for a holiday bonus release-- a completed world map-- has turned out to be a much larger project than expected, this sprite is my Christmas present to patrons this year.
