Hello! I hope you've had a nice weekend. I'm back with another one from a popular patron request!

You might remember these previously-released merfolk sprites. I also included them in the Atlantis bonus expansion pack.. Here's some links to the related posts:

Today's release builds on these with a side-view battler base as well as a finished battler for one of the characters. I chose to make the first character from the Merfolk hero set. He seems like a good champion.

I will admit that I considered going a little "deeper" with the animations-- like replacing the sword with a trident, or the bow with a blowgun-- some ideas that might make sense for an underwater setting. But I decided against that for now: I thought it would be useful to provide the first sprite as a general base-hero type of character.

Specifically, I wanted to keep the animations primarily the same as the regular sheets, so that if you are using them in your own game, you could edit your own characters onto the bottoms if you need to make new characters, or maybe mer-versions of your heroes. To help with that, I've made sure to include the new base sheets as well as the character.

If we want to revisit this idea with more of the merfolk characters in the future, then we can explore some more specialized weaponry.
