The aquatic worship of a subsurface deity. Yes, below the surface, but by no means inferior. The Deep Ones, while their lives short lived, have spent decades maintaining the gateway between the depths we know and a place much deeper than those of us on the surface could imagine.
Delvers of the deep toiled tirelessly to bring this sacred landmark to it's final splendor. It is said that when the gate is activated, the truly deepest parts of reality can be seen, a reality far detatched from our own. A writhing mass eyes, tentacles and whole worlds being guided, directed by these beings. We should consider ourselves lucky that as far as we know, nothing has come through from the other side.
The deep ones, however, continue to send themselves through to this new yet unknown dimension. Every tide, another goes bravely through, risking our world as they continue to make this path known to those from beyond. It is only a matter of time until forces beyond our reckoning will take interest in our small, humble existence. As long as offerings send themselves into the world of these monolithic beings, we light a signal pointing to ourselves. When they do take notice, I fear the worst.
Hey all,
Last map in the Atlantis series, I thought it'd be handy to have a nice way to get there and back that didn't involve jumping overboard and sinking to the bottom of the ocean.
Can you tell I've been watching Star Gate Atlantis whilst drawing these maps? Anyway, this was a really good series to do that got me a bit out of my comfort zone! Get to thinking up what you'd like to see next month! :)
