(Potential) tax changes and lesson revision

Good evening Patrons! I hope that this post finds all of you well. In the above video, I discuss the tax changes Patreon will be making in the near future (which will only affect certain Patrons living in the U.S.), as well as a minor revision related to the previous lesson on honorific pitch-accent. If anyone has any questions or concerns with regards to the above, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Best from Beppu,

Thanks for the heads-up! I wasn't aware of this and must have misunderstood the Patreon announcement—I'll try to make another post later tonight mentioning this and several other things. Cheers!

The Patreon email I got today mentions the 10% JCT (消費税) from July 1st so it certainly isn't only in the US. The link they sent lists 18 countries/region in all where the change is taking place. https://support.patreon.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043055071

Hi Max, I haven't but I may try to cover this in the future (currently have several other lessons already lined up so can't make any promises just yet). Cheers!

Hey dogen I wondered if you already talked about pitch accent patterns when talking about time. Like in 7:30 for example

Hi Clare! Glad to be of help—if you've never studied pitch-accent before then you should definitely make some major strides in your first several weeks of study. Thank you for your support, and good luck breaking those bad habits! Might take a while but stick with it!

Just became a patron after finding you on Youtube. Been studying/speaking Japanese for 15 years, teaching it for 4, and my host mom from my high school homestay JUST told me, "Oh BTW you have a super American accent, your pitches are all over the place." 4 years of high school, 4 years of college, 2 years of Master's... and every teacher both native and non-native told me I'd pick up pitch-accent naturally via immersion, so I had no idea my accent continued to suck. I'm hoping I'll be able to unlearn at least some of my bad habits through your course. Thanks for your hard work! And the tax isn't that big a deal :)

Thank you so much Marko! So glad to hear that you enjoy the content so much, and that you’re getting a lot out of the series! Please stay safe during this crazy times.

Sometimes I hear it as well haha. Appreciate the continued support Enrico!

I don't live in the US but I don't think 80 cents will make much of a difference for most people. Anyway... I became a patron last summer (after I found you on Youtube) and this is actually my first time to leave a comment. I just want to say I think your content is pure gold (to say the least) and I really appreciate the effort you put into every video! I am in the "Linguistic Enlightenment" tier and I will continue to support you for as long as I can! ^^ Thank you!

I feel a bit like one of Pavlov's dogs. When you started saying thanks and bye, I instinctively began to sing 'Commando Steve' under my breath, and I was extremely surprised when it didn't actually kick off. It took me about a couple of seconds to recover from the shock and realise what had happened. Looking forward to hearing about the exceptions! Keep up the good work.
