ONE HIT WONDERLAND: "Whoomp! (There It Is)" by Tag Team

AHH Reel Big Fish! YES! That was college for me!

Call Me Christina {PuellaDocta}

Oh maaaan this song! I remember I heard this at a baseball game I went to with my dad, and it's so easy to learn we were both chanting it along with everyone almost immediately! And I've loved it ever since! I had no idea there was more than one Addams Family rap! Also, I was NOT ready for them to be the Pig Power in the House guys, but it fits!

Call Me Christina {PuellaDocta}

I, too, knew this song from gym class in elementary school. I never knew it was a strip club jam!

Stormy K.

I wish Boney M. could get this treatment

Another good episode my friend keep it up. Also I actually have a 12 inch promo single of addams family whomp! That's in great condition.

Still praying for the day that Todd takes on 90s ska punk like Reel Big Fish or The Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

Man, whatta mouse was a real blast from my childhood. Got it as a freebie single from a cereal box or a Happy meal or something.

Sure the Mickey version is weird, but I mostly remember this from seeing the Chuck E Cheese version, which was about trying to swat a fly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjNkL2gXiWg

Mark

My god, the Mickey Rap Album. I must find this.

apocalypsethen

Miami Bass, fun fact, is one of many probable origins for the Who Let the Dogs Out? chant.

James Lefkowitz

Oh, I think he was self-deprecatingly referring to himself when talking about who uploaded it...

forestaysaIL

Whoomp! There's my butt! - Beavis

GeddyLeeRoth

This song will always make me think of Too Cold Scorpio from ECW

Michael Fitzgerald

To be fair: Wednesday Addams shouldn't ever look like she wants to be somewhere.

Raymond

not gonna lie, this is how i learned the lyric is "there it is" and not "dat ass"

Brittney With An E

*Sighs* Kind of sad Todd's only covering this now. Since I kind of always wanted him to cover it when he was on Channel awesome since Nostalgia Critic actually did like the pig power in the house song and would of wanted Todd to jab on him for that. Also kind of wish Todd pointed out more he was the one with the Addams Family Whoomp as that's his first video on youtube believe it or not. Still good ep even for such a band of very limited things to even talk about.

Neo Ultra Mike

I actually have a 12 inch single of that song for some reason. Good condition too.

Seems a bit early to do her since that song only came out like 6 years ago.

RedBedroomRecords

Yeah trying to get that album banned was basically how famous anti-violent-video-games lawyer Jack Thompson got his start.

RedBedroomRecords

I actually rented that one from my local library after reading about it on Cracked, I actually do unironically like a few songs on there(Ducks in the Hood is pretty catchy) but yeah as a whole it reeks of Disney trying to jump in on the hip-hop bandwagon a few years too late.

RedBedroomRecords

OMG i've been wanting Todd to do this one for ages, happy it finally happened.

RedBedroomRecords

We're 3-5 years from Lil Nas X hawking a Disney Plus remake of The Addams Family, aren't we?

Justin V

There was a wonderfully awkward ad of the Producer going on TV berating people for not going to see the film. I'm sure it's lost to time, nothing even shows up on YouTube, but it was a sign the movie was bombing.

Justin V

Boom Shakalaka will always be connected to playing NBA Jam on the SNES for me. I saw the Geico ad last night and wondered when Tag Team was coming to One Hit Wonderland - glad to see I wasn't the only one.

Justin V

I was 8 in 1993 and I remember Whoomp-mania well. It was also probably one of the first rap songs I really heard and knew. Mickey Mouse Unrapped sure was a revelation, I don't remember that one.

Vanessa Picard

Was not ever expecting to see Sada Baby in a Todd video but it’s welcome, he was probably of the few people who actually had a successful year in 2020

Nick Ostrem

I don't think I've ever been as mortified in my life hearing about Mickey Mouse Unrapped. I could feel myself physically growing red in the face from sheer second-hand embarrassment, and also first-hand embarrassment.

Meluieth Box

Gordy is the Volcano to Babe's Dante's Peak

Don McHoull

The cringe was palpable on Mickey Mouse rapping

Was wondering if you were going to bring up the Addams Family version. Because I remember it. I REMEMBER IT.

Lewis Lovhaug

Crying real tears at Mickey Mouse Unrapped. I haven’t laughed so hard in months

Pig Power’s in the house!!

Christian Reiswig

Okay but the Mambo No. 5 Disney remix still hits.

Josh Spicer

SPRINKLES

Michael Furey

I just learned more about Tag Team than I ever thought possible. Good work, Todd! (And to go off another group mentioned in this video: an OHW on “Me So Horny” by 2 Live Crew would be fascinating. Granted, the song is so filthy that it would probably get demonitized, but an in-depth look into one of the most controversial rap songs of all time would make for a great video.)

Christina Lohr

I totally remember the Addams family version! But I also have a habit of letting movie credits roll. It's amazing what gets played over them.

Taia Hartman

"Pow! Oops, I was holding it the entire time."

Castleknackers

Few things acknowledge you have already peaked than changing the language of your one hit from present ("there it is") to past tense ("there it went")

Nick DeCicco

I have a vague recollection of dancing to a song called Mambo Mickey Mouse when I was in dance classes as a child, so there’s an answer.

I would've loved if they had reeeaaally stuck to the formula when trying to make new hits. "Spadoink! (No It Can't Be In Here Can It" is the hottest hit of 2004!

lizlovesyou

I actually have a vivid memory of listening to the Disney version on our kids/family AM radio station when I was little. So at least for me, the Addams Family crossover was way more unexpected and out-of-place.

Those Addams Family rap songs remind me a lot of "Turtle Power", the accompanying hit song to the TMNT movie where the group was so well-acquainted with the Turtles that they called Raf the leader.

Jacqueline Sailer

So basically, if you're a rapper and you don't try to be controversial, the system forces you into a bunch of kiddie tie-ins?

Jacqueline Sailer

I've been waiting so long for this one 🤣

Syl W

Holy shit "Pig Power in the House" I haven't thought about he who shall not be named in a long time so I forgot all about that, lol I feel back in 2009

Anthony Pierre Coco

i thought it was just me, i was just coming here to say that i was today years old when i learned it was not 'Whoop (Dat Ass)'

Miri and the Grand Vastness of Space

With “Mickey Mouse: Unrapped” and “Mickey Mouse Disco,” it makes me wonder what other genres of music Mickey Mouse has dabbled into

ImADudeDuh

You say this was something less heavy then your year end lists, but hearing Mickey Unrapped and Adams Family tie-ins was crushing.

John Seiler

genuinely believed the lyrics to this were "Whoop That Ass" right up until watching this video

Ixcaliber, Gay Fox 4 Life

i suppose i shouldn't be surprised this song has lyrics beyond the title, and yet...

Ellie Davis

Oh, so I didn't imagine that Disney album. That's good know.

Grant Beaudette

Also, I see what you did there with that reference to a weirdo uploading the Addams Family Whoop video to youtube.

MJS

Wow. This is just what I needed too.

GregD

Oooooh, I've been waiting for this. Finally, Geico's advertising agency does something good for the universe.

MJS

Please do a one hit wonderland on Kreayshawn's Gucci Gucci

BMJ614

What Patreon tier do I have to subscribe to get a Trainwreckords of Mickey Unrapped?
