I never realized this was Christian Rock until this review.
2016-11-30 07:43:08 +0000 UTCCheck out Woven Hand or 13 Horsepower, both fronted by the same guy.
2016-11-25 15:36:59 +0000 UTCAlso, I don't like "christian" rock/music for the exact reasons you mentioned in the video. BUT Woven Hand/13 Horsepower is very much worth checking out. D.E.E. is an awesome songwriter. Even atheists love his music despite knowing it's his way of worshiping. Devil Driver covered Black Soul Choir and and Woven Hand has opened for Tool before, so I heard.
2016-11-25 15:35:53 +0000 UTCI think the best thing about being a Patreon supporter is that when youtube takes a video down for copyright claims, I can still watch it here!
2016-11-25 14:41:51 +0000 UTCHey Todd! I will be looking for the What If God Was One of Us review. That song had the weirdest affect on my child mind. Also the video started me on a life long love of nose rings.

2016-11-25 07:20:34 +0000 UTCI recall listening to skillet a ridiculously long time before someone informed me they were a Christian band. I think sometimes if it's not in your face the crossover appeal is much larger.

2016-11-25 07:18:03 +0000 UTCI remember watching this when it happened lol, thanks for the moment of surreal nostalgia.

2016-11-25 07:14:47 +0000 UTCSo at the very moment this song was big, we had some serious flooding in Harrisburg, PA (from melting snow). So much so that this happened: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DxG9yOS1dQ

2016-11-25 04:30:47 +0000 UTCThanks for also posting this on Vimeo. YouTube says it's not available in my country... united states lol.

2016-11-24 16:48:53 +0000 UTCI heard the "Lift Me Up" part and I thought that was the title of the song. Didn't realize until now it was "Flood."
2016-11-24 16:30:16 +0000 UTCYeah i grew up in a strict Christian home where we only listended to this almost souless shit and then i heard bohemian rhapsody and i could never look at that shitty happy people music the same ever again most "Christian" music is just preying on stupid people who have no problems, taste, or braincells i want my music to challenge me not give me a blow job

2016-11-24 16:14:01 +0000 UTCkinda reminds me of horse with no name
2016-11-24 08:10:32 +0000 UTCIf we're giving out a 'i could almost mistake them for a real band' award to christian groups it has to go to Switchfoot who had 2 songs in the top 20 on billboard.

2016-11-24 07:57:40 +0000 UTCGood Video! --- I heard the new Train song for the first time this week and I have never had a more hateful reaction to a pop song ever. You know the song, the one that is using the "Heart & Soul" theme...... Please PLease PLEASE rip this song apart in your next review. I would rather listen to Jars of Clay than that piece of crap song (Which plays an average of 5 times a day on the god forsaken radio station at my work)

2016-11-23 23:15:42 +0000 UTCRe: Christian music and quality control: IIRC, a big reason why so much modern Christian music is so bad is because the musicians and audience view the message as the #1 priority over the quality of the music. Outside of modern Christian music, there's a lot of religious music which is very good if not excellent. There's loads of good choral music and in the '50s and '60s there were African-American (or Black, use whichever word you want) gospel musicians who were far better than their white secular counterparts. But yeah, a lot of contemporary Christian music is way too cheesy for its own good.

2016-11-23 20:38:47 +0000 UTCThe Christian music audience can be brutal. One of my friends was worried that Jars of Clay doing work to fight AIDS in Africa was a sign that they might be okay with gay people.

2016-11-23 16:45:43 +0000 UTCHey Todd, I Have a OHW Request!!!! "Sex and Candy" by Marcy Playground. I Loved That Song. I Wonder What Happened to Them? Did They Gained Success to Their Hit? Please Let Me Know. (BTW. MTV Classic is Doing a '90s Thanksgiving Marathon Throughout Wednesday to Saturday.)

2016-11-23 14:45:31 +0000 UTCI really liked this song back when it was on 89x in the 90s, still do. Dat instrumental bridge yo. There are a few stealth bands but as above the hardcore Christian market seems to view ministering to the unwashed heathen masses as some failure of faith which is just, do you even bible bro? Hanging with the dregs and agents of the man is sort of big j's jam. There are still some decent crossovers that hey to me like "stand up" by fireflight and even skillet's "hero" but mainstream success and Christian culture acceptance are often at odds.

2016-11-23 14:17:06 +0000 UTCI heard this on Sirius XM's 90s on 9 recently. Delighted that it's received the Todd on the Shadows treatment!
2016-11-23 12:02:48 +0000 UTCOh man, I grew up in one of those "intense" church experiences. The way my church peers and youth ministers told it, Jars of Clay was "secularized" by associating themselves with normal bands. You risked defying God (and by extension going to Hell) by even listening to such apostates.
2016-11-23 09:11:52 +0000 UTCoh my god, i haven't thought of this song since I was a kid..

2016-11-23 08:23:54 +0000 UTClol they don't sound nearly as bad as hillsong united.
