Important post for Patrons about the Top Tens (Please read all the way to the end)

I was introduced to your videos around two years ago now and they have completely changed my life. My standards are naturally low, but your reviews were my first encounter with critics and criticism, and it has totally upended my way of thinking about entertainment. I really appreciate the difference between good and bad in a new way and I have you to thank for it.I'm kind of going on and on, but the point here is that I love your videos and if you need me to pay double to make ends meet I will do it gladly. Keep up all the good work!

Thanks for the heads up, Todd! I have absolutely no qualms with it, but its nice to see that you're concerned about your fans. I think I speak for most of your fans that agree that we have no problem paying for the content we consume; its your job you SHOULD be paid for it. Happy New Year!

As a brand new Patreon but some one whose been watching for years (hurray for a promotion that took effect Jan 1st that allows me a little extra money to support content I love) I'm just really happy to hear you're doing the top 10s at all. I was just talking with my Fiance yesterday about how much work those must be and I was concerned that you'd finally decide that they weren't worth the trouble when they are easily among my favorite videos of anyone's, let alone of yours, on the internet, especially for rewatching them years later to take a nostalgic trip back to the year in question, if only for a half hour.

No problem, man - I'd rather just make you have enough money to get by! Besides, the top 10 videos are typically about double the length of a regular review, so when it comes to $$ per minute it's basically the same. :)

I understand the need to explain this, at least from your perspective, but I think most of your fans agree that making money so that you can sustain a living (and feed that Kali that is too small, perhaps if you feed her more, she will grow?) is more important than a couple of bucks out of our pockets for a service that we want. After all, you never forced anyone to support you on Patreon. Or maybe you did and you're a horrible person, we'll never know.

I've been slowly putting my stuff back up on Channel Awesome. From now on, make that your one-stop shop for all things Todd.

Honestly, what annoys me about splitting the lists up isn't the money at all, it's the need to track down both versions of the list should I want to watch it again in the future. It's actually kinda hard to find a full set of your 2014 lists online and that was only last year. I don't mind if you divide the lists in two for the reasons you gave, Todd, but once it's all over and the Patreon triggers have fired, do you think you could put out a combined version of the lists for those of us who want the whole thing in the future?

I love hearing you talk about the music you actually like, and I get that this is how you support yourself, so I'm doubly ok with this for the top 10 best list. And ok, I also like the schadenfreude of the bottom 10 as well, but you've said in the past that you don't think most people even like it when you say positive stuff, so I want to specifically give some love to the top 10 vids.

Thanks for letting us know, Todd. It's understandable. Personally, I don't do this for exclusives or putting my name in the credits or any of that stuff, I do it because you're one of my favorite entertainers, I want you to be able to pay the bills, and I want you to be able to keep producing videos. I'll also add that I don't know what you mean by exclusives, but I do hope that you're not planning to start paywalling song reviews or OHW or anything like that. I have at least a few offline friends who enjoy your work and don't have the extra cash to put into Patreon, and I'd hate for them to start missing out on your work. Otherwise, thanks for making great videos for so long, and keep it up! I hope to see you complaining about how much of a pain Top Ten videos are for years to come.

Just going to add to the list of people saying this is a fine decision by me, I know you have to pay the bills, and thanks for getting ahead of any potential problems by making it clear up front so people can adjust as necessary. As with several previous posters, I might also drop my normal cap for this month since it sounds like these really kill you.

I hate talking about money in the context of my job, too. It makes me feel like a mercenary. But I have to earn a living, and so do you, and neither of us needs to be ashamed of that. I look forward to your top tens twice as much as your other videos, and I'm happy to pay twice as much for them.

Chiming in with everyone else about being good with you charging for each part of the top 10 lists. They're twice the length, extra work for you, and well worth the extra cost.

So long as you thoroughly mock at least one pompous pop star (more would be good but I'll try not be greedy) then I'm fine with however you organize the videos.
