I think it's interesting how they've used the name askeladd in this show. In the Norwegian folktales Askeladden aka. Espen Askeladd is the hero who always wins the princess and half the kingdom completing incredible tasks, sometimes with the help of quirky people he meets along the way. He is also known for beating tricking killing trolls.
