The fox always did his best to try and obfuscate the lack of progress—his only offer being platitudes and meaningless hope. Sonic knew that it was out of compassion—or worse, pity—for his predicament, but that context did very little to ease the suffocating minutia of his everyday life.
“How do you feel?”
“Just as I’ve felt yesterday, and last week, and last month,” Sonic muttered as he stumbled out of the large, cylindrical chamber. “So, y’know, peachy.”
