Unreal Island Test - Benchmark v0.1

Hey everyone,

I hope you had a great week!

For this update, I can present to you the first Island Benchmark we have. This is still very rough, but I would like to get an idea of the performance you get with this Benchmark.

There will be more benchmarks in the future, but for now this is a good first start to get a general performance feedback. A lot of features are still missing and will be added step by step. For example:

These are just a couple of things I have in mind, so there will be more improvements ;)

The beauty of it is, that we can build on top of a great foundation and things will be cooler and cooler. It´s also a lot more fun for us as developer :) Very important for the next version is also, to have a universal camera animation so everyone has the same benchmark procedure. But still it´s cool to have something to play around with.

Here is a quick video showing the settings:

And here is the Link for the Build:

Other than the Benchmark I am currently reworking the skin of the girls, starting with Brittany. The Hair is not ready yet, I am waiting for the outsourcer, who created the hair, to give me an Unreal version.

But at least you get an idea of her skin. Honestly, I think the skin shader looks even better than the pre-rendered visuals we had for EP1-4. But that´s just my opinion. Brittany won´t be that muscular, she is only here because I needed to test the blending of the muscle maps.

Please let me know how the Benchmark works for you and also your average frame rate. I am very very curious about the performance on low-end systems!

Also, I will be on holidays next week, so there won´t be an update! Lily will take care of answering code requests and stuff like that. I will then go trough the comments when I am back. I really need some time off the PC/Phone ;)

I hope you have fun with this update! Have a great weekend!

Best,
PM & Team

Unreal Island Test - Benchmark v0.1

Comments

I believe the artefacts you saw come from motion-blur. I noticed that also. That´s one of the things we need to sort out along the way. On my Laptop it also tried to open SteamVR, but I don´t have a clue why. But that also happened with some other games. Do you maybe have a link for that automatic keyboard binding? It´s the first time I hear about that.

Puppetmaster3dx

ran pretty well on my comp. i did notice some artifacts around the face when running in grass. dont know what that was. It also tried to open vr for some reason which was interesting, since it wasnt supposed to be vr. Lastly, there's a setting in unreal somewhere that automatically adjusts keybinds for different keyboard layouts. It would be great if you could set that.

Yes I noticed that settings bug also, we need to have a look when I am back. And this island is just a very first start. There still are tons of things I want to improve, but it´s a very good start I'd say. And thanks for your ongoing support :)

Puppetmaster3dx

Great you could resolve the error! And the performance is really good on the old system! More muscular will be on the to do list! Once we start with customization, please remind me again!

I have a Rx580 4GB,16gb raam,i5-7400 ran it on a external 2tb drive. Ran a smooth 30fps on all medium settings with textures on high,Resolution 2560x1440p. I did get a settings bug when I first launched it resolutions didn't show up when trying to switch and switching to native fullscreen didn't allow me to click on anything on screen.A restart fixed the bugs and then was able to run it smoothly. I have to say this got me excited for ep7.The island is beautiful Unreal does look better then unity. This could be a great game can't wait to see trinity and the girls on the island. This reminded of DOAX3BV being on a island with beautiful girls. That would be awesome.Futas volleyball. 😍Just a idea.😁Super hyped this is why I keep supporting Puppetmaster.

BTW, puhleeze consider an option allowing the grrls to be more muscular. Especially the shoulders and arms. ^_^

Kraig

Little digging around and it's working now. Had to DL the latest DirectX from Microsoft. On a >10 old rig with a Phenom1090T and a 5700XT, I'm getting 27-32 FPS at 3840x2160 with High settings, VSync on, and 3D set to 95%.

Kraig

Dang it. I got an error: "The code execution cannot proceed because XAPOFX1_5.dll was not found." >_<

Kraig

Yeah, I usually limit the fps to the hz since both are based on seconds. So kinda hard to see 120 fps on a 60hz display.

Ben Guyton

The monitor is limited on Hz not on fps !

Hiro

When you disable "Vsync" you should see more frames. Your specs are definitely on the higher end! There is something wrong with the resolution settings it seems... We will look into that after my holidays.

Puppetmaster3dx

Cool!

Puppetmaster3dx

On epic settings in 1080, I get a constant 60 fps, probably higher but my monitor is limited to 60. my spec is probably upper mid tier. Ryzen 5, 16GB ram, RTX 2060 super, gen4 m.2. Surprised there wasn't a 4k option but it ran very smoothly.

Ben Guyton

I have between 35 and 40 fps in epic (auto detect) (and you know my configuration)
