Love Space 3: Behind the Scenes
Added 2025-12-30 02:46:10 +0000 UTCHello, my lovely patrons.
Love Space 3 is finished and it's time to dig into the guts of the comic and reveal its deep dark secrets! Okay, maybe not that deep or dark. But I will show you some of my notes and sketches and stuff. So let's get into it.
CONCEPT
The idea for Love Space 3 was formed around midway through development of Love Space 2. As soon as I knew where Lee'sa and Adam were going to end up at the end of 2, I knew that 3 had to be about the fallout of that status quo. Plus I wanted to draw twink!Adam getting his backdoor pounded by Lee'sa. It wasn't until I started writing that I realized I was making a drama comic.
DRAMA
I play with genre and homage a lot in my work. I like to use familiar trappings in unfamiliar scenarios. The Love Space series is a prime example of that. Love Space 1 is a comedy, Love Space 2 is an action book, and Love Space 3 is a drama story.
I was half-way through writing the flashback when I realized this wasn't a funny story about a sexy alien superbabe possessing a hapless dweeb anymore. Now it was a doomed romance story with pathos and yearning. It was a story about friendship and dynamics of family relationships. Feelings had stakes now. So I leaned into it. I wanted to explore that aspect in my work this year and I think I was successful. Between TGTFv4, AMFSAC, Double Take, and Love Space 3, I've been exploring some more complex themes this year. I'm not sure if it's going to be the same in 2026, but that was definitely the vibe for 2025.
NOTES
I have a notepad in the shower. I jot down story ideas in there a lot. Sometimes I just need no visual stimulus to really mull over a story. Here are some of the notes I wrote for Love Space. As you can see, not all of them made it to page, but the kernels of the ideas are still present I feel. Some of these ideas will come back up in Love Space 4.

Lee'sa's mother was originally Lee'an, but then I figured 'sa is probably a family name so she became Teree'sa instead. Obviously you don't get to find out what's up with Nix and Jenny in this issue. They will get way more focus in Love Space 4. I had some original ideas in my sketches that wouldn't quite fit either.
SKETCHES

I wasn't at all confident in my ability to design an interior on the fly, so I had to do some planning sketches. To be honest I think my interiors still could use a lot of work, but I've never really studies interior decoration so I'm not pulling from many sources on that stuff. "What if a regular living room was about 60% hornier" is kind of a tough order.
Ada'Lee (pronounced like Natalie without the N) was a fun design to work on . I think I'll have fun making her do stuff in Love Space 4. I want her to emote differently from the Bon'urian characters we've seen so far.
I was originally going to do a little dress up scene with Lee'sa, but then her drainage condition got too dire so I had to settle for the t-shirt that didn't fit super well. She was also going to have a dick from the start instead of growing one after getting Love Energy treatments in the Affectionator.
FLASHBACK
I wish I had more notes and plans to show you for the flashback pages, but I really just had to dive in and get them done. I had some idea in my script that I was going to have a flashback sequence that was going to feature prominent two-page spreads. I was originally going to do this green and pink motif, but then Wicked ads came out and I decided to skip it. Instead I opted for a black gutter to indicate this is in the past. Here's an excerpt from my script:
Suddenly Adam sees a strange setting. It looks like a royal court if it were made exclusively for groupsex. At the throne sits Teree’sa and a brutish Bon’urian who must be Lee’sa’s father. Lee’sa, clad in royal garb that is equal parts sentai uniform, boob armor, and magical girl costume. She stands at the base of the steps which lead up to the throne. Queen Teree’sa speaks.
“You’re already 25 cycles old and you haven’t once yet taken the Pledge of Duty. We need to see results from you, Princess Lee’sa. We’re worried about you.”
“Yes, mother.”Intercut all these scenes with Adam getting railed.
Next scene. Lee’sa stands next to a hot green-skinned Bon’urian that is clearly Fii’Nix. “Alright, princess. Let’s get you combat trained. If you want to take the Pledge of Duty, you’re going to need to know how to FIGHT!”
Fii’Nix does a sweep kick on Lee’sa, toppling her.Next scene. Lee’sa and Nix are making out in a cramped space. Arms intertwined, breasts exposed, tongues firmly in each other’s mouths.
“Stay with me…”
“But we can’t-- I mean, we’re not supposed to feel—”
“They don’t get to decide what we feel.”
Next scene. Nix walking into the sunset.“I have to go away for a while, princess. Keep your guard up, huh?”
Next scene. Lee’sa stands proudly in new golden armor.
“By my Duty to Bon’ur, I solemnly swear to pursue my betrothed perpetrator to the ends of the galaxy.”
“Good. This is your target.”
It’s a hologram of Fii’Nix. Lee’sa can’t help but gasp.“Fii’Nix, a former royal sergeant in the Passion Corps, has been accused of parasitism and conspiracy. Our intel connects her to the deaths of several Class-2 beings via drainage.”
“I will find Fii’Nix and bring her to justice.”
Next scene. Multiple panels of Lee’sa chasing Fii’Nix, but never catching her. Not even close. (Think Lupin and Zenigata.)
Again, Adam is just getting railed here.
Next scene. Lee’sa is in her space ship which is all Bon’urian as fuck.
“You must be around here somewhere, Nix…”
“[Incoming attack. Brace for Impact.]”
ZORTCH
“I’m going to crash! Just need to--”SSSSSSSSS
BOOM
Maybe like 4 pages? Could be more.
That's a lot of stuff to pack into "maybe 4 pages" and I realized that just about as it was time to start planning those pages out. So I literally doubled down and made, at least by my count, the best work of my career so far. I am very proud of those pages. Got the idea for black borders from One Piece by the way. Thanks again, Oda.
CONCLUSION
Love Space 3 is probably my most ambitious project to date. When I set out to continue after Love Space 2, I didn't think it was going to be such a major shift in tone. But I think this comic was the culmination of a lot of lessons I learned over the course of 2025. I intend to keep on learning and pushing further in 2026 so that Love Space 4 can be even better.
Thank you for reading and Happy New Year.
