Behind the Scenes #41

CYODA College Student.

This was very experimental and way too complex, but I had fun creating it. The vote system was pretty intricate and it involved dice rolls, Scarlet's stats bonuses and % of votes on a particular choice. It was a lot of work just to get the result done and check if it was a critical success or failure >.<'

A lot of people asked about this one, so here it is: CYODA means "choose your own diaper adventure", so the title of the comic is actually "College Student".

I quickly realized that patrons almost never wanted to vote for what I wanted to happen, and that demotivated me to draw most of it. Still, I decided to deliver some good fanservice at the end and I still really like the part where Nika and Scarlet smoosh diapers together.

I originally intended to draw 4 chapters. Chapter 1 should've been waaaay shorter, chapter 2 was set in college and I had planned a scene where Scarlet hides in a locker while she's diapered (you'll find that same scene recycled in DAMP!)

Chapter 3 was a field trip and chapter 4 the final bonus chapter in case Scarlet's relationship was successful. So yeah, chapter 4 would've been a sort of dating sim and pretty sweet. I also had planned for many different routes. E.g. [if Scarlet were to be found by her parents they would've brought her to a doctor and kept her in diapers for precaution.] Now I would've loved to see that one, and that's the main issue with the series, too many choices and unexpected results. I tried my best to give hints and pilot the story a bit but ultimately I couldn't take away the freedom of the voting system.

I'm not sure if I will attempt again a voting based comic, but this won't be the end for College Student. I've got some plans for the future ;)

That one is one of my favorite AB/DL comics

that’s really cool you tried that, sounds pretty complicated but def a neat way to engage with followers

It's okay if you wanna have more creative control. It's why some big budget movies turn out bad because of to many hands in the jar. Like when writer, producers and directors can't get along. Case in point, Star Wars Episode 7-9. It had a lot of potential but nobody seemed to understand where it was going. George Lucas knew because he had the Ep. 1-6 already planned. Still I know it's hard when you're the only writer, producer, and director involved.
