Cosmic Cretin (WIP)

Cosmic Cretins are aberrant creatures from beyond the stars that have recently started appearing around the world. They emerge from the hollow interior of geode-like meteorites that fall from the sky. Who, or what, entombed these monsters inside of meteorites and sent them here, is beyond our current knowledge. One thing we do understand is that these invading cretins are extremely dangerous!
Cosmic Cretins are armed with brutal claws, fanged maws, and bristling spines. Their body excretes a potent acidic fluid that drips from their mouth and claws. It seems that the cretins produce this acid to aid in emerging from the rocky meteorites that they are transported within. The deadliest aspect of the cretin however, is the cosmic corruption that its body emanates. Everything within this aura is withered, twisted, and eventually dies. The meteorites from which the cretins emerge are a strong source of this corruptive energy as well. While its seems to have no effect on the cretin itself, they carry the corruption with them. A creature afflicted by the entropic effects of cosmic corruption seems to recover shortly after leaving its aura, but there is a chance of manifesting permanent mutations. Importantly, prolonged exposure to the corruption inevitably leads to a horrible death, as cancerous tumors overtake the body. Creatures that succumb to the corruption have been observed rising again as mutated monstrosities, belligerent and vile.
The spread of this invasion is currently unknown, but we must take measures to stop it at all costs!

Dev Notes - This creature first appeared in a short campaign that Tom ran a few years ago. It's a sci-fi monster that evokes the fantasy of an alien invasion or mutant outbreak. Picture the scene of a flash of eerie light that illuminates the night sky on the outskirts of town, leading the adventurers to investigate and discover a crater from which something has emerged... The mysterious monster is now wreaking havoc in the countryside, leaving carnage and mutated animals in its wake. Think of the "cosmic corruption" that these cretins emanate as radiation that drains vitality and causes fantastical mutations. This creature takes the role of the brutish vanguard foot-soldier in a wider panoply of extraterrestrial beings that are invading the world.
