In ch. 1 page 2 Mai's phone buzzes like a bee.
Her contact icon on Nana's phone is Mai bee (ch1 page 8).
Chapter 2 page 10 A convenience store in Japan is known as "Conbi", hence the "Conbee" store name.
Chapter 3 page 20 the vibrator buzzes differently for Mai, for the sake of bee jokes.
Chapter 4 page 8 This one is kind of self explanatory, Mai dreams of turning into a bee and flying back home.
Chapter 5 the ABeeDL logo is a bee joke Hyro thought of as the new brand name for the new diapers.
Chapter 5 page 28 photoshoot, Mai obviously dressed up to resemble a Bee.
Another Bee reference is that Mai always wears a yellow hairbow and she has black hair, making the well known yellow/black stripes that you find on bees.
But what is exactly Mai Bee? It was originally born as a silly meme during a livestream, I think I was listening to "Be Happy" and at the same time thinking about the Futurama episode with the bees where Bender sings Bee Happy. I was drawing the very first few pages of Nanako's Diary and mixed the two things, then decided it needed to be canon. So I made her appear in Nanako's dream.

I thought it was a fate since that guy who owners of ABeeDL had a affinity for Bees. That's why he invested in Bitcoin, but the Futurama joke makes more sense. I do hope the new season gets John DiMaggio on board, otherwise It's not gonna be the same.
