Re:Zero Season 2 Episode 11 Reaction/Review

wow I never noticed Roswaal's behaviour before the sanctuary! 😲but it's true when they were called into the capital for the election, and when subaru barged in Roswaal smiled as if he was looking forward to him getting involved or something 😱

This episode was the one that made me realize Roswaal left in the 2nd arc once he knew Subaru was doing something beyond reason. He'd suspected based on the story he'd heard from Emilia while Subaru was still asleep from the stomach cut before he woke up with Rem and Ram in the room. Roswaal never left the mansion in the previous deaths in that arc, but once he suspected Subaru could react to problems before they existed set up a test so to speak: remove himself from the equation and see if Subaru could solve the whole problem. We see here that Maylie has been contracted by someone to do bad things in the territory. Roswaal has been waiting for someone like this for a long time. He needs someone who can do specifically what Subaru can, even if he has no idea how he does it. He has an idea, but he doesn't know for sure.

Roswaal is really ruthless he keeps saying that he would get rid of anything that gets in his way to achieve his goal total scum to be honest what he did there to Ram, maybe he doesn't care for Garfiel but Ram???? that was just so messed up 😭 I still don't understand how this book works, is it Echidna who communicates with Roswaal through it?

Here we finally find out more about Betty and what kind of situation she's in. To put it shortly: Echidna told her that "that person" would visit the library some day. We can easily assume that "that person" meant a special someone who would love Beatrice. That's why she cried out here to put her first. But we know Subaru can't do that. He already has his heart set out for someone. It's a hard situation to be in, especially looking at it from the perspective of both Subaru and Beatrice. Beatrice wants Subaru to be "that person" for her or if he can't, be rid of this contract that's been tormenting her for 400 years and finally die. Subaru obviously can't put her first but also doesn't want to kill her, so I can imagine he's also feeling like he's between a rock and a hard place here. I don't want to say too much else about this for now, but I found this specific part of the story of season 2 the most heartbreaking. (Like everything to do with Beatrice and "that person".) It's also pretty obvious Emilia lost her mind and went insane here. She would most likely instantly ask Subaru what happeened to his eye or where has he been. But she never gave even a hint of that. All she talked about was how much she loved him and needed him. That does remind me of Satella though... I think Roswaal didn't do that because he knew Subaru could go back in time, I think it was more to confirm that more than anything. Here's probably what he was thinking: If he kills Garfiel and Ram 1.It's pointless anyway, because Subaru could just prossibly reverse their deaths, if his guess of his powers is correct. 2. It's to judge how Subaru reacts, so if he would grieve them like any other normal person, it would say that he couldn't do anything about it. 3. Regardless if Subaru can go back or not, he could get rid of an obstacle (Garfiel) to his plans. Crazy to think that Roswaal believes that no matter how many times Subaru needs to start over, in one of those loops, he will eventually get his wish. He definitely deserved to die to the bunnies like that. So to clarify a bit: The book told him only to make it snow from what I can understand. The fact that the bunnies were drawn there was just like a side effect. The snow was to make everyone believe it was Emilia that was doing that because of her connection to the witch and the place where they are (A witch's tomb). I guess the plan worked to some extent as we see at the end here, with Emilia being so out of her mind. Subaru really can't catch a break. 😭 That snow sculpture callback of Subwaal (I think that's what it was called lol) was a great point. It really did kind of foreshadow this in a way huh?
