Staff of Storms

Staff, very rare (requires attunement by a druid, sorcerer, warlock, or wizard)

While holding this staff, you can add your spellcasting ability modifier to any damage roll you make to deal cold, lightning, or thunder damage with a spell. In addition, you can perform a ritual with the staff over the course of 1 minute to magically learn what the weather will be for the next 24 hours within a 1-mile radius of you, provided no other spells are cast to alter it; you are also aware of any weather within that area that is currently affected by magic.

The staff has 10 charges for the following properties. It regains 1d6 + 4 expended charges daily at dawn.

Spells. While holding this staff, you can use an action to expend 1 or more of its charges to cast one of the following spells from it, using your spell save DC: call lightning (5th-level version, 5 charges), fog cloud (1 or more charges), gust of wind (2 charges), ice storm (4 charges), lightning bolt (3 charges), sleet storm (3 charges), thunderwave (1 or more charges), or wind wall (3 charges). When you cast fog cloud or thunderwave in this way, you can increase the spell's level by 1 for each additional charge you expend, up to 5th level.

Storm Deflection. When you take cold, lightning, or thunder damage while holding the staff, you can use your reaction to expend 1 or more of its charges to gain resistance to that damage's type until the end of the turn. Then, roll a number of d10s equal to the number of charges you expend (maximum of 5d10) and reduce the remaining damage of that type by the result; any other creature within 5 feet of you then takes an amount of damage of that type equal to half the amount reduced by the d10s.

When you expend the last charge from the staff, roll a d20. On a 1, the staff shatters and is destroyed. When that happens, each creature within 30 feet of the staff must make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 1d10 cold damage, 1d10 lightning damage, and 1d10 thunder damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
