Hey heroes!
Each week on Discord, community members nominate other members' suggested items to be made into official Saddlebag items. The top two most voted-for item ideas each week get made, following back and forth workshopping and discussion.
You can submit your ideas on Discord, too! Come join us in the #patron-item-workshop channel!
You may recognize some returning item suggestions! Items can be renominated and re-drawn for weekly polls following a week-long cooldown.
Here are the randomly selected item ideas drawn from this week's nominations!
Ideas
1) Xorn Maw Collar — A necklace that harnesses the xorn's urge to consume gems and precious metals. You gain bonuses to checks related to geology and proficiency with jeweler's tools and can be combined with a xorn eye coin for bonuses such as burrowing speed, tremorsense, and the ability to summon a xorn once a week.
2) Cherry Bomb — A bright fuchsia specialty alcoholic beverage that can make harmless candle flames appear on fingertips. A rarer version of the potion allows you to cast a less powerful fireball spell.
3) Creeping Goodberry Vine — This enchanted plant combines creeping ivy and natural goodberries. A seedling takes a full year to mature, after which it quickly spreads and produces goodberries that maintain their magic for up to 5 days after picked.
4) Ring of Thorn and Bloom — The twisted metal of this ring is made to look like thorny vines, with shining rubies representing roses. You can expend hit dice to gain charges for the ring, taking a bit of piercing damage each time you do. You can expend the ring's charges to roll those hit dice and regain hit points as a action.
5) Mantle of the Swamp Warden — This ghillie mantle allows you to hide in a forested area, even while being directly observed. Once per turn, you can attempt to poison a creature you hit with an attack. In addition, you can utilize the mantle's mosses to dress wounds, adding 1d6 to each hit dice a creature spends during a short rest.
6) Narrator's Bookmark — This red leather bookmark has a rounded end and is creased in the middle. When placed inside an open book you can speak its command word, causing it to animate like a tongue, reading the book aloud in the language it was written and continues until it finishes the page.
7) Hearthstone Smokechest — This heavy banded-iron chest smolders and glows faintly. You can place food inside to magically cook it. Food smoked in the chest remains edible for up to a year. You can also prepare a special meal which, when eaten, grants temporary hit points and gives the creature advantage on saving throws to avoid exhaustion.
Keep on adventuring!
